Is recording and displaying of GPS tracks possible in Microsoft Streets and Trips?
GlennBenscoter
I have Microsoft Streets and Trips with the GPS receiver. I am interested in creating / mapping some short trail on a topo map, maybe also a satellite view. I am assuming for the creating exercise, I can go to the end point - mark it then go to the other end point and work my way back though the best terrain possible.

The mapping part would be walking current trails and recording tracks.

In both cases I would want to be able to print these out for handout.

Is there a way to do this with this Microsoft Streets and Trips software, or other software, with the laptop and the bundled Microsoft Streets & Trips GPS receiver?

Thanks to all who respond.

You can create a gps trail that will mark inside a S&T .est file, but i don't think you can export that information outside of S&T in 2010 version...

...you can use the gps trail to lay down some pushpins manually afterwards and then those can be exported.

GPS trails are actually exported as part of the GPX file. Attached a sample trail for example.

While on road trips it is nice to be able to draw a trail for each day of driving then export them to GPX file then you can import them all to a single map to see the overal road trip.

Right, sorry, forgot about that.

Streets & Trips has so many features and capabilities I cannot remember them all.
