Deluo GPS BR-355 on Windows 7
nialag
I used this GPS for many years with Streets & Trips 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 with Windows XP, and It’s working great…

I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 and the driver is not accepted because it does not have a “signature numérique”. The driver ( USB-to serial Cable ) is suppose to be made by Prolific Technology. They have a new driver but it is not specific for Deluo (PL-2303 Driver) and it’s not working.

Deluo seem to be out of business the address “www.deluogps.com” is not working ?

Someone know where to find a new driver ?

Alain, your Deluo BR-355 is a re-branded GlobalSat BR-355. See if the GlobalSat drivers work for you: http://www.usglobalsat.com/p-227-br305-usb2-usb-cable-set.aspx

I don't yet see Windows 7 drivers there, but I would expect the Vista drivers to work. Let us know.

Try running the installer as an administrator. Instead of just double clicking the install file (if on a CD you might have to open to view files) right click it and choose the above.

Also, Win7 should have asked if you wanted to run it anyway. When installing, check the taskbar to see if you have a flashing icon.

I just installed PL2303.

I had not re-installed it since a clean install of Win7 two nights ago. I have Windows set not to notify me about installs and ran the .exe as Administrator. When finished I plugged in my BU-353 and it installed the drivers automatically. It shows up as Prolific Serial-to-Comm
port (Com 3).

Have you tried it on a different USB port? What are you using to determine it is not working? I could not get GPSInfo downloaded from Globalsat to work. But Streets & Trips, Google Maps, etc. work fine.

My opinion : The USB cable set for use with GlobalSat MR350 / BR355 serial GPS receivers.is different that the one I got with the Deluo BR-355... Its' a old one... May be the problem is there?

You could try reinstalling the drivers. Plug the device in, go to Device Manager and right click the device in Ports. Select uninstall. Check the box that says remove the driver and click OK. When the Device Manager refreshes (with no Prolific Serial to Comm device in Ports unplug the GPS. Leave Device Manager running so you can see what is happening.

Plug the GPS back in to a USB port. The Device Manager should refresh and Other Devices will show a serial device with a yellow exclamation mark until the driver is reloaded for the GPS. When the driver is finished installing Device Manager will refresh. The GPS should now be listed in Ports.

Right click it and choose properties. Under port settings check that it is set for 4800 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control.

Let us know how it went.

You have changed cables? You should be using the one that worked previously (unless it is damaged).

A serial (rs-232) cable is definitely different than USB. Is your BR-355 serial or USB?

Also, can you test the BR-355 on another laptop with the driver already installed? Or is the reason for new one is that the previous one died?
