Text to Speech not working in iGuidance 4.0 on my laptop

I have install iGuidance 4 to my laptop, and it works great, no problem.

But I bought Asus Eee laptop (which is very small hard drive space) so I have to install the iGuidance 4 to another SD card. Here is the problem...

I can't choose where to install when I install iGuidance. So what I did is copy the iGuidance program files and paste it in to a NTFS format SD card.

Everything works, but only the Text to Speech is not working...

I am using Vista SP1 Home Basic, did I miss copy any Text to Speech engine files? Or is the Vista on my Eee didn't support it? Because I use vlite to strink the Vista and delete many components. I don't know if it has anything to do with it.

Please help, I really love the text to speech in iGuidance, thanks very much.

Hi teddyboy,

Welcome to Laptop GPS World.

I'm not sitting at a computer that has iGuidance installed, but if my memory serves me well the text-to-speech related files are normally installed to a folder within C:\iNav iGuidance. You should see two or three folders in C:\iNav iGuidance. One folder contains map files, and one folder contains the text-to-speech engine. I don't remember the name now. But if the folder is not present, you will not hear text-to-speech.

Thanks for reply, I have check the folder and everything is there. I also check the size of the directory, and is the same. Everything looks ok.

iGuidance just don't read the road name, but everything works fine.

Hmm, is your iGuidance 4 embedded in some front end software, or you run is on its own?

Well, it works 100% good in my old laptop, which I install the software normally.

In Eee laptop, all I did is copy and paste the whole 1GB + program files to a SD card, and run it there. Everything works great except the Text to Speech.

And today, I just find out that the TTS is not working again. T_T

I still don't know what happen. Is there a way I can install the software normally to a removable SD card drive?

Really thanks for the help.

the Eee is using Vista, and only have a few programs installed. Those program are just normal programs like office 2007, msn...etc, I don't think any other program is affecting the iGuidance.

Currently in Eee is like this

The program files is install in here in the SD card drive "D drive"
D:\Program Files\iNav\iGuidance

The maps and TTS engine is in here also in "D drive"
D:\iNav iGuidance

The maps works good, but the TTS engine don't work

Try the following:

  1. Leave D:\iNav iGuidance as is (do not delete)
  2. Delete D:\Program Files\iNav\iGuidance
  3. Install iGuidance 4 using the original installation DVD: either connect to external USB DVD-drive, or connect to another computer via network, or copy and run the content of the DVD (minus the iNav iGuidance folder) to your SD card if it fits there.
