OK, I entered my latitude of 46 and that worked perfectly.

Thank you very much.

So, now I'm curious, how did you find that out? Is it hidden in a help file somewhere? (in case I forget and need to change it in the future).

OK, I just found the followin in a Garmin forum:

"The projection angle setting and the dialog is kind of an Easter Egg and not really an official feature."

So I guess you just have to know. I think I see you in that thread too Ken.

It is in this thread: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?7049-MapSource-6-16-0-3-Beta-released&p=32116#post32116

Yes, "KGANSHIRT" over there is me. I couldn't remember the magic gesture so I went to the Garmin Mapsource forum and searched for "projection distortion". I found the secret code in a different thread but it all leads to the same place.

Actually no secret code is needed... just use GMTK

Projection angle selection

Maps that span a large area are often distorted; this is clearly visible at the north and south bounds of the map in both MapSource and BaseCamp. In the center there is no visible distortion. With this option in JaVaWa GMTK you can select another center point for the projection angle. The projection angle needs to be set for each individual map, and is used by both MapSource and BaseCamp.

Thanks Boyd. I had forgotten that GMTK will set the appropriate registry key(s) to the desired value.
