Missing addresses on a 4 lane highway in Streets & Trips 2010
rkoch615
I use Microsoft Streets & Trips 2010 every day, and it works great for my application. BUT, I am unable to get it to locate addresses on a 4 lane highway in my area. It just sticks a marker at the beginning of the road.

Is there a way to do this that I haven't discovered, or is the database just not populated for these roads? If not, what is the future plan for 4 lanes in the database in the future?

Hi rkoch615, and welcome to the forum. You are welcome to post the name of the highway, and the approximate location you are unable to find addresses.

The following thread may also be of help:

Thanks for the reply.

I run a FedEx route in Roanoke, Botetourt and Craig Counties in Virginia and I use Streets & Trips 2010 daily to set up my route.

The roads I am talking about are:
Roanoke Rd in area codes 24083, 24175, & 24090.
Botetourt Rd in area code 24090 which is a continuation of Roanoke Rd (north).
Cloverdale Rd in area code 24175
Also all of Craig County Virginia has finally gotten in the 21st century. They have started using the 911 system but non of the roads are on the current GPS (Streets & Trips 2010) database. Do you know when that might happen?

Most, if not all, Navigation Software Providers use maps provided by mapping companies. So, the annual new releases of navigation programs will likely have new program bells and whistles, but not necessarily map updates. Map errors are best reported directly to the mapping companies. In the case of S&T, the maps are provided by Navteq... as I recall.

t1dunn is correct. For mapping data omissions or corrections NAVTEQ's MapReporter website is your friend.

From a quick look with MapSource (another product using NavTeq) at Cloverdale Rd as an example, the addresses appear to have been added for the 2010 version. That would seem to indicate they will likely show up with Streets and Trips 2011. No guarantee though.

No guarantees but here is what I found.

Thanks for the replies. It's not the roads that don't show up. It is specific addresses, example 4466 Roanoke Rd, 24083. These specific addresses when plugged into S&T 2010 will place a marker at the point of origin of that road but not at the location of that specific address. Perhaps NAVTEQ will get it updated in 2011.

Rkoch, make sure you click the small picture within Larry's post. That will show you the larger two screenshots he attached for you. That should answer your question (and give you hope for Streets & Trips 2011) about at least one of the roads you mentioned earlier in this thread.

NavTeq already has updated their database to add this information. From what Larry says, it is likely S&T 2011 will have that too.

Thanks for the help. Looks like Streets & Trips 2011 will have the updates I need. Can you tell if there is any progress on Navteq on getting Craig County, Virginia (area codes 24127,24131) on the map?
tcassidy
Give me an example address and I'll look. I can't search MapSource by area code. Or if it is possible, I don't know how.

You can't search by just Zip in Mapsource. You need a street name. And you can't fake it or it just fails to find something. So as a minimum we need a street name or two for those Zip codes.

rkoch615, I recommend simply browsing around Navteq's data yourself and looking at the area. You know better than any of us which roads should be there.

Perhaps you didn't notice Larry's link: NAVTEQ Map Reporter

Thanks for the insight on Navteq. I have already done exactly that and the map data is there on their site. Will be interesting to see if it gets carried over to Streets & Trips 2011.

Thanks for all your assistance.
