Is it possible to add Backroads into Microsoft Streets and Trips?

I have Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 and find it acceptable for known roads- it tracks fine, but the backroads ( logging) roads are not shown which is somewhat obvious for the average user. Just about all forms of GPS do not have this capability.
I have obtained extremely detailed maps and loaded them onto Google Earth Plus. They overlay perfectly. From here to here lays down a route to some remote spots. Problem: Google Earth can be cached and used unconnected to the internet, but you cannot get a start tracking line going.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

I have managed to load 2 detailed map files (.kmz ) into Streets & Trips but don't know where they ended up.
Does anyone know how to or if it's possible to use these maps in S&Ts?

In B.C. we have a bizillion miles of roads off road and all kinds of lakes but it is difficult to use a hand held and be constantly interpolating lats and longs on the paper copies of the maps.

Great site and Forum - can we post pics of the backwoods ( when the snow is gone ? )

Hi Gordon,

Welcome to Laptop GPS World.

I don't have an answer for your specific question (and I hope someone else will), but why not use some topo map instead?

Re: posting pictures - yes, I'm actually waiting for a new version of the forum software which will add photo album feature, so everyone will be able to have their own photo album. I think it's going to be a cool feature. The new version (v.3.7) just completed Beta testing a few days ago, and now it is in RC1 stage. Hopefully within few weeks it will be released as a stable version.

Gordon,
If you already have detailed maps available, try oziexplorer.

They have a trial and a demo version for free. Each has certain limitations, but between the 2 of them you get a good chance to try it out (I purchased it after a trial).
You can load and calibrate your own maps.

Gordon, you are doing (very) well considering you've been using a computer only since Nov 15th (your birthday? ).

I'm not sitting at a computer with a printer now (I'm on the road), so I cannot test how well this website would print, but my first thought would be to just click File => Print on the main menu bar in your Internet Explorer (or other Web browser you may be using). If it doesn't print the whole width of the page on one sheet of paper, there could be an option to "Shrink to fit" somewhere in the print settings (in the Web browser).
