Approximate Release Date of Streets and Trips 2011
flannigan
Does anyone have a guess as to the approximate release date of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2011?

Thanks,

Mike, no official ETA is available at the moment, but expect a new version later than usually. Typically, a new version would hit store shelves at around now in the USA, a few weeks later in Canada, a month or two later in Europe (AutoRoute 2011), and several months later the business version (MapPoint 2011). But these 2011 versions will release later this time around.

The following are some related topics I just quickly found here (in no particular order):
These are just some discussions I've found. There may be others, and I'm sure soon there will be more.

Marvin:
Thank you. Looks like it's going to be later than usual. I can still use my laptop with 2010.
I bought a new desktop and want to wait for 2011 to put on here. I'll wait.

It's already over a week past the latest release in the history of the product...

Pointless to speculate on the reason I suppose, but my inner pessimist is starting to squirm.

But my inner optimist says it's because so many enhancements led to a longer QA cycle.

Steve:
Thanks for your reply.
I went to the MS site yesterday to see if I could download the 60 day free trial and it is not available, only 2010.

I feel the same way, Steve. The optimist in me hopes that the delay is due to more work being done on this version. The pessimist (realist?) suspects the delay is due to the product group working on more important projects.

But I'm happy just knowing Streets & Trips 2011 will eventually come. Other products have their versions delayed this year, too. We may need to wait a while longer.

Maybe they're adding in the realtime traffic & weather overlays that I want.

I would hope that they were working on the Second Coming of Pocket Streets, now that Windows Phone 7 has come out.

But I'm not getting my hopes up. I know it's unlikely.

At Streets & Trips Facebook page, a fellow by the name of Albert Clawson asked:

I've been hearing rumors that MS has either decided to skip S&T 2011 or discontinue the entire product [...]

Ignore the rumors...there is definitely a S&T 2011 in the works.

I'm waiting, I'm waiting, but my trial version of 2010 only has 11 days left. At that point, I'll have to go back to my previously purchased 2008 version.

I'm ready to buy, Microsoft! And I'm getting tired waiting. Please allow me to open my checkbook, sooner than later!

I'm starting to get worried we might not see it this year. Halloween and Thanksgiving are two big milestone dates for retail... they've already missed 1. If they miss Black Friday too (only 3 weeks away), clearly they are abandoning the Christmas selling season... which I think points to a Spring or later release.

Oh well... they say hunger makes the best sauce. So when it gets here we will likely find it mighty tasty!

Not what I wanted to hear. That means it will be that much longer without ANY S&T product running on my virtual machine.
Already have had to reactivate S&T 2010 "too many" times.

What are the Streets & Trips folks doing? They have missed much of the lucrative 2010 Holiday shopping season already. They are losing revenue/customers to other mapping programs by not having the 2011 version on the shelves by now! You would have thought someone at Streets & Trips would have realized this. Oh well, onward through the storm!

MS ...... We're waaaaiting.

So Black Friday has come and gone.

Assuming the delay is due to a decision - and not the result of unexpected development problems or some sort of contractual saber rattling with Navteq, I think we can forget about seeing it in 2010.

I'm guessing March.
