I miss the vintage MapSource
I loved the old Garmin Mapsource product before they split out navigation, which became nRoute. It was simple, elegant, compact and understandable. I could easily switch from city view to topo. I'd still be using it, but the problem is the associated maps are getting too old. When I can, I still use it with nRoute, but I find the file incompatibilities frustrating and the nRoute interface cluttered.

My question is, what would be the best mapping program that gives me similar capabilities to the old faithful Mapsouce of +/- 10 years ago, but with contemporary maps?
Can't MapSource 6.5 work with the latest maps if you convert them with MapReverseConverter? I haven't tried it myself but it should work.

I'm new here and I'm not familiar with this process. But I can learn. Can anybody confirm this will work?
