GPS lost in Streets & Trips when Navigation pane used
sailoredon
I am losing GPS connectivity after a few minutes in the navigation guidance panel. It works forever if I'm just allowing the GPS to just follow along as I drive, but if I change to "Driver guidance" it loses connection with the GPS.

Sorry to say that I do not know the answer to your problem... However, a wise person will come along, shortly, and help you, because this is the greatest forum ever. What I do know is that you need to give lots more details... the type of computer you are running it on, S&T year, type of GPS and any other details about the occurrence... You can get that together, post it, and save a little time on getting it resolved... Do well!

What is "Driver Guidance"?

Earlier versions of Streets & Trips had an option called "Provide Driving Guidance" in the GPS pane. The feature is still present, but it is called "Provide Navigation" in the current version (2010).

My memory only goes back to the release date of the current version, if that.

Do you do some sort of memory exercises? I can barely remember what I had for breakfast. And it's not even supper time yet.

@ SpadesFlush & Ken in Regina - You both are better than me. I'd be completely lost without the ability to search this forum.

@ sailoredon - If you are not using the current 2010 version, give that a try. Quite a lot of issues have been corrected in this versions.

Marvin, you didn't mention that he can download 2010 and try it for free for 60 days to see if it does help. Shame on you.

I've been on the road and haven't had time to check this site. Here are some answers to questions posted:
I'm using S&T 09, Acer netbook (1G Ram, 160 HD, XP). I'm waiting for S&T 11, so would like to be able to use the "driving guidance" in S&T 09 until Streets & Trips 2011 arrives (if ever!)

It sounds like I'm far from alone in using the netbook, so I'm guessing others are experiencing similar problems? I posted some time ago suggesting that Microsoft develop a netbook "friendly" version of S&T.

Don, I use S&T on an ultra-micro PC which is smaller than a netbook and I find S&T (and Autoroute) to be quite effective on that device. Therefore, I think S&T should be pretty "netbook-friendly" as it is. It is difficult to know what is causing your performance issues but I doubt if it is S&T itself. I would guess more people are using S&T successfully than.
