Find nearby places Categories window won't open in Streets & Trips 2009
Joe Bedford
I've selected different categories many times in the past. I"m not aware of any changes I've made to our Windows 7 PC since I last used it.

I'm planning a fairly simple route, but it's about 2000 miles in length. I want to look for RV Campgrounds along the route. Soooo, in the Nearby Places window I clicked categories to select what I need. The categories window displays for a fraction of a second then disappears. I've tried it many times with restarts and reboots too.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Joe
Larry
Hi Joe,

Are you seeing the "Categories" window close automagically immediately after you choose a category? Even before you click on the <OK> button?

Is that a new Microsoft Term of Art?

I click the "Categories" button on the "Find nearby places", and the categories window flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second, then disappears before I can do anything.

This usta work, and I'm not aware of changing anything to break it.

I thought of another permutation to try - my wife and I have individual accounts on that machine. I installed S&T 2009 on my account but I was running this route plan on her account.

I logged in as me and lo and behold it worked as it should.

So I have a workaround but surely one shouldn't have to always run the program from the same account????

Cheers, Joe

Right click on the shortcut and try "Run as administrator"
That should work. If so, you can change the properties so it always runs as administrator.

Yeah, that did the trick. Go figure...

Thanks,
