How to add custom POIs to ALK CoPilot Laptop Truck
jasult
No, I just downloaded the weigh stations and the pilot files, and copied the ov2 files into the copilot / north america folder, and still no luck. Do not see anything new in the poi menu's either.

Post the exact directory name you copied the ov2 files into.
jasult
My fault! I put them in the NA folder NOT the NA/SAVE folder. All good now, thanks.

Thank you for helping and all the work.

If the POI set you have is in a format other than the TomTom .ov2 format, you can use an online conversion tool to do the work for you.

This is the site I use: Online POI Converter

Quick links for the converters to ov2 format:

I just downloaded the RV Park and campgrounds from POIFACTORY and it worked as well. I am now a HAPPY CAMPER

Good deal. If you have any problems, feel free to post them here and we'll definitely see what the issue is. I'm home until the 27th, so I'll be on quite a bit between now and then.
jasult
Are you over road trucker?
malaki86
Yes - I'm normally home 2-3 days every 2-3 weeks, but taking a 10 day vacation this time around.

Nice, I am excavating contractor / RV vacationer.
I have been playing with all kinds of GPS devices and I kinda like CoPilot the best.
By the way I have a kid brother working for company pulling reefer all around the US.

Ok so I thought I was getting really good at this but,,,,,. I am trying to built two POIs in the csv format. One is the location of all the fire arms dealers in the US and the other is fiber glass repair shop in Canada and the US. But when I convert it to .ov2 files it turns into garbage. I am looking at other .cvs files and I think I am entering the data just like the other files, but it just not working.

Any comments or guidance.

malaki, sorry if I let you down. I am just a lousy student.
malaki86
Can you post an example of the files? Include the header line at the top.
OneRVer
Sure will. Give me a couple of days and I will post it. Thanks.

Don't know what I did, but some how I delete a bunch of stuff. So I will send you what I have now and hopefully that will be enough to see what I am doing wrong. I have not worked with xcel for about 9 years and I am re-learning all over again.

This line (3rd line) appears to have the wrong coordinates - try deleting that one and retrying.

-133,55.4804,Log Camin Sports,"1 East Street, Craig, AK, 907-826-2205"

Thanks for catching that. The first column should be 133.152 and the second should be 55.4804. Also the name should be Log Cabin not Log Camin.

For some reason it is not reading column A, B, or D only C using the Convert CSV web page. If I convert using GPSBable it only reads column D not A, B, or C
