ALK CoPilot Live 8 Laptop has been released
LouviereLJ
I can not say that I have tried every scenario, but I can say that I saw Petro, and Pilot in Hammond La. When I asked for Queen City Truck Stop in Meridian MS it took me right to it. I assumed that if it knows about Queen City then its data base must be pretty good.

I will run through more scenarios this weekend and can get back to you with an up date if you would like. Safe travels, Lonnie

Of course, you can always add your own .ov2 format files for the truckstops, such as the ones I've been uploading/posting in the Software forum. That's what I do with the Android version of CoPilot 8 I have (non-truck version).
LouviereLJ
Well that format is a new one on me. I do not know how to use it or whether it will work with Truck. I am willing to learn how and investigate if it will work with truck if you are willing to teach a not so smart on computers person. Safe travels, Lonnie

.ov2 is the TomTom format. Basically, to use a ov2 file with CoPilot, you just copy it into the CoPilot/NA/North America/Save directory. The next time you run CoPilot, it will import it. Once imported, it acts like the built in POI's in the program (but your own).
LouviereLJ
That sounds simple enough even for me. Am I to assume that the ov2 files can be found on the Software Forum? Safe travels, Lonnie

The truck-specific ones that I've uploaded are here. The downloads are zip files. Inside each of the zip file are 3 different file formats of the poi's - gpi (garmin), ov2 (tomtom) & csv (almost everything).

Thanks, I will investigate which format the Truck version can use. I appreciate the link. I am going to take the system out on the road for the weekend and will post how it performs on the trip. Next week I'll look at the POI add-ons. Safe travels, Lonnie

Well I figured malaki86 did well without the Truck version, so I went a head and ordered just the Laptop version.

The good news is the gentleman I am working with at ALK told me if I was not happy with the Laptop version he would work with me on getting the Truck version.

Took me 15.5 hrs to download this 1.9G file. WOW. But I have it now and am just starting to play with it.

Our anyone out there back this file up on a DVD????

15.5 hours is a long download! Do let us know your impressions...

Well you might think I am crazy, but, I still think version 2003 was the easiest to work with. Right now I am connect to bluetooth, still waiting on the GM2. Working great with the Bluetooth.

Will let you know more as I learn more. I am also doing a "like" and don't like" for ALK.

I do like the upgrade button. Have already done a MAP Upgrade.

Is the "Where Am I" feature gone?? I cannot find it.
LouviereLJ
OneRVer I do not remember a Where Am I Button on the older CoPilot versions. You can find you current location in the GPS status feature. I just returned from a short weekend outting. Lane assist/clear turn are great features that I think you will like. All of my travels were on the Interstate so there was not any difference in routing between the truck and auto modes of travel. Yes, on version 2003 and 10 both had a "Where Am I" Icon. I really don't think it is needed I just noticed it was gone.

What do you think of the "Avoid Roads" feature? I have not been able to use it in a pre trip planning.
LouviereLJ
OneRVer I usually manipulate the route by picking a point on the map in order to avoid a road. I the Laptop 11 version I had to use this regularly. But the new truck laptop program did not require it even when I added a fuel stop on a different interstate just before I was going to make the turn to I 59N. The program took it in stide routing me to I 10E for fuel then back to I 59N for the rest of the trip. Safe travels, Lonnie

LJ, do you have an icon under "Live Services" called "Road Side Assistance"?

Menu -> Live Services -> Road Side Assistance

Also while in the 3D view have you lost the Voice?
