ALK CoPilot Live 8 Laptop has been released

No. Hwy 26 Mt. Hood Hwy, North of Rohdodendron, Oregon on road 18, near Lost Lake, is also a Lolo Pass. Nice asphalt road for about 10 miles. Go down a steep grade and it turns into almost a one lane gravel road. Have to back up almost a mile at that point to turn around. Look for 45.3712N, 121.881W

Pick-up camper no problem. 37 foot, wide body, motor home, problem.

Question about Copilot v8 Laptop:

In the planning mode is it possible to use your current GPS postion as "Start"?

Is there a setting to avoid HOV Lanes?

Does it read out street names(Text-To-Speech)?

Can you please post some screen shots?

Thanks.
LouviereLJ
3dOptics, you can use your current position as a start point as long as you have a GPS receiver plugged. I have not seen any reference to HOV Lanes. Yes, one of the voices does speak street names, I believe it is one of the guys. The girl does not do street names. Yes, I have done screen shots with this program. Safe travels, Lonnie

There are difference setting for text to speech. I am not sure if it will read each street or just the next turn street. But yes it will read street names.

LJ, Are you saying that the male voice does more speaking?

I am not sure why, but my female is GONE. The first couple of times she quit working, I would reboot the laptop and she would speak again. Not anymore. This all started in the 3D Mode.
LouviereLJ
OneRVer, the only voice I use is the female and she is still working for me. But she only speaks POI and directions. She works both in 3D and 2D. There is a place in settings were you can get to the text to speech gentleman. There are two gentlemen, one is text to speech, the other is not. Lonnie

OneRVer, I am sorry I did not see your earlier post. In order to ensure we get the results you are looking for, please give me how you want it inputted. I will be glad to give you my likes and dislikes, if it is not too late. Lonnie
OneRVer
Nope not too late for the list. I just sent you a PM with my list.

TEST; Please go to MENU -> DESTINATION -> COORDINATES -> DECIMAL DEGRESS, enter 45.3712N, 121.881W -> GO.

Do this in the TRUCK MODE if you would, please. Will be interesting if CoPilot will let you go there. Thanks, -Steve
LouviereLJ
OneRVer I just replied to your PM before reading this message. I'll get to it when I get home in a couple of hours. Lonnie
OneRVer
10-4, Thank you
LouviereLJ
OneRVer, I did not count on a very, very slow mechanic when I said 2 hours. I did run the coordinates that you gave me in truck mode and took me through East Lolo Pass Road for 28.1 miles before reaching a "local road" for 4.1 miles and NFD Road 382 for 0.7 miles. I do have the route prior to reaching Lolo Pass Road if that would help. Safe travels, Lonnie
OneRVer
I am surprised that it would take you on a forest road with out a warning. Thank you for checking this out.
LouviereLJ
OneRVer I do not know the roads there so if it is the same problem that you faced then maybe you should notify your point of contact. He will either be able to get it corrected or let us know how to handle it. Safe travels, Lonnie
OneRVer
Yep, I have taken care of that. Hope they listen. We will see.
LouviereLJ
That is the reason that we should use caution when we follow the Nav Systems.
