How to use Garmin Nuvi 1490 as a GPS for Microsoft Streets and Trips?
I am using a Garmin Nuvi 1490t as my receiver, and have connected it through the required com port (using Com3), and the software recognizes the GPS.

What I don't understand is I have the GPS right up on a window, and it still wont triangulate my position. Using the Nuvi 1490t alone can get a signal with no trouble in almost any room of the house. Any suggestions?

This set up, the GPS is about 3-4 feet away from my netbook running Streets and Trips so I wouldn't think interference would be an issue here.

The simple answer is that probably your Nuvi model will not operate as an external GPS receiver but you can try the procedure in the above discussion.
