Map Updates Available for CoPilot 8
malaki86
Just letting everyone know that the latest monthly update is available for download.

In case you aren't sure how to do this, here's the directions:
  1. Go to the CoPilot menu and scroll right 1 screen.
  2. Click the 'Updates' button
  3. Click 'Check for Updates'
  4. Click the 'Ok' button
  5. A window will appear saying something about downloading the update
  6. When the download is finished, a new window will pop up saying that CoPilot needs to be restarted to apply the update. Click 'Ok'.
  7. Restart CoPilot

The update will unpack and apply when CoPilot opens the next time.

This is the first update that the "Downloading Complete" window appeared. Is this new for you also or have you always gotten one?
malaki86
I honestly can't remember if I've seen that come up before.

Thanks Malaki86, I am downloading it now. I am trying the program on 2 computers and it is easy to switch the activation. However, I hope I can move the download to the other computer as well as I don't want to download 1.7G twice!

Hmmm - try hunting through your directories - hopefully you can locate the file. I don't have much choice since I'm running on the Android (standard) and laptop (truck). Oh well - unlimited data plan gets a workout.

That didn't take nearly as long as it should have. By file date/ time it appears to have changed everything in the CoPilot>NA>North America folders including a couple of files in the Save folder at that location. It also updated Deviceinfo.xml in CoPilot>Save.

Unfortunately, maps for my area appear to have the same errors as before.

Only 4 of the folders in CoPilot>NA>North America are affected. The other differences I saw were due to activating the license. I do see 2 new folders in Places though;copilot_infousa_premium and copilot_infousa_premium_canada. I assume those are additional POIs.

Another Map Update came out today. Thought I would pass this on.

Strange. I can't download the maps to my Libretto wireless but by moving the activation to the Win 7 desktop, it works fine. Maybe I'm not waiting long enough.

I *think* that the different mobile versions and the laptop version have the map updates released at different times.

Could be wrong, though. Fired up the EVO to test it and it immediately found the update is downloading now. I won't be in the truck until Friday, and will download it then.

Go to the "About CoPilot" screen on any ALK product. It will tell you what map version it is running. My CoPilot Truck 8 is still running the "2010.03" version of maps - this is the "3rd Quarter" of 2010 maps. Although their PCM Navigator is now on "2010.04" (4th quarter, newer maps.)

My Laptop version has done several "Map maintenance" updates which only took a few seconds. From what I can tell, those were POI updates and not new roads or addresses because a full map update takes about 45 minutes and not 30 seconds. I do not know when ALK will release the 4th Qtr full map update for their laptop products yet, but I will inquire.

I don't have a cell phone version, so for those who do - what does it say in your "About CoPilot" screen. It's say Data_ALK_NA.2010.?? What is the number after the "2010" on yours?

just updated v8 Standard on the Android. It's showing these:

Data: GRD_ALK.NA.2010.02.4.5.2.1
Cities: GRD_ALK.NA.2010.02.04.5.2.1.1
POI's: POI_ALK.NA.2010.02.4.1.1.12.1

The v8 Truck Laptop is:
Data: GRD_ALK.NA.2010.03.4.3.2.1
Cities: CTY_ALK.NA.2010.03.4.3.2.1.1
Same #'s for truck_alk, truck_exit, POI_infousa_premium & POI_infousa_Standard

Wow. So the Droid is even further back with "02" maps. And your V8 Truck matches what I am seeing with "03."

Interesting. Thanks for the quick reply man!
malaki86
No problem. The droid is also completely up to date. Just downloaded a huge update for it a few hours ago.
