Problem installing Streets & Trips 2011 on Windows 7 PC
dale
I am trying to install a download Streets & Trips 2011 on my Windows 7 operating system, and keep getting this error message:

Quote:
A LICENSING INITIALIZATION ERROR OCCURRED. PLEASE CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT FOR MORE ASSISTANCE. ERROR 0x004D301.
I cannot finish the installation. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, do you have a solution to share?

Thanks.

If you got far enough to have an S&T icon on your desktop, you might try right clicking it and choosing 'Run as Administrator'. If this is not an option, try starting the program from the 'Streets.exe' file in your S&T folder probably in the Program Files or Program Files(x86) folder.

Hi Dale, and welcome to the forum. Just to add to Terry's suggestion, if you right-click the desktop Streets & Trips icon, but don't see the "Run as Admin" option, try the following steps:

1. Right-click the desktop icon
2. Click "Properties"
3. Click "Compatibility" tab
4. Place a check-mark in front of "Run this program as an Administrator"
5. Click "OK"

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried those and a few other things, but I had to actually call STREETS AND TRIPS and have their tech 'take over' my computer to fix the problem. I'm not exactly sure what he did, but it worked. If you would like to save yourself hours of frustration, simply call the S&T technical team and have them walk you through the problem.

Dave, thanks for letting us know Microsoft tech support was able to fix it!

I tried to download the trial version of Streets & Trips on a Windows 7 64 bit program, and always get an error saying there was a registry error and try to reload. but I get the same problem.
I did download and run the trial version on my desktop with XP, and had no problems.
Before I pay for it I would like to be sure it will work with Win. 7 64 bit.
BTW- - - what is wrong with the MS S&T Forum?????

It works fine with Win7 64bit. You might try starting it from the Streets.exe file in the Streets & trips folder you installed.

Bud, you will unlikely be able to correct this particular issue yourself. Microsoft tech support will be able to correct it for you though. A Senior Development Lead, Streets & Trips/MapPoint, posted about it here in the forum a couple of years ago. Perhaps reading what he had to say will give you the confidence needed to buy your license so you can phone for assistance.

Thanks for your support. I have been using S&T for many years now, and this is the first time I have encountered a problem.
I hate to buy something that doesn't work with the prospect that someone will help me once I spend my money!!!
