CoPilot Live V9 Truck Laptop

Two questions; (1). Where is the "Map Update"? (2). Appears that the Activate Traffic is not set up for Laptop, is that correct?

malaki how do you use Centrafuse?

The map update is part of the new download (the 1.5gig one). ActiveTraffic will work for the laptop - you just have to subscribe.

As for Centrafuse, go to their website and check it out - it's really cool.

When I click on the "Buy Now" icon it only gives me the options for the Android. Will the Android work with the Laptop? If so, then the "Live Fuel Price" should work also, shouldn't it?

Now I understand the Centrafuse. One day I would still like to see your studio, I mean your cab.

Does your laptop run the Android operating system? I bet not, unless it's an ASUS Transformer.

Looks to me like it let's you add this:

CoPilot Truck Laptop (Windows XP/7) $149.99 $149.99

to the cart with no problems.

I just purchased the Active Traffic and the Live Fuel Price and they are both working fine. My confusion was when you purchase these items they are listed Active Traffic for Android and Live Fuel for Android. I know that the Live Fuel in version 8 did work on the Android / iPhone but not with the Laptop. I am now getting the Active Traffic and Fuel Price on my laptop.

So far I think I will like this version, but ALK still have not addressed the issue with the Avoid Road. If anything they have made it worse. It appears that ALK have combined the Avoid Road and Detour under Avoid Road. That in my opinion is a bad mistake. Will be interesting to get Malaki feedback after he gets back on the long haul.

UPDATE: The night before I decided to download Active Traffic and Fuel Price, I emailed ALK to ask them if ATand FP would work on Copilot Truck V-9. Today I got their response back.

Dear Steven,

Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.

Unfortunately, both Active Traffic and Fuel Prices are not yet available for V9 Truck Laptop at this time.

If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention.

Regards,

The data is stored under user/document and settings/application data/alk technologies. My POI's imported are seen however don't have icons no feature to add icon and not very searchable. Like some features, however not sure if as user friendly as old program...especially for my Navigator my wife in a MoHo.

I tried this version and didn't like it so I reinstalled V8. Well I purchased new laptop and deactivated old laptop however the new laptop wouldn't work. Contacted support and they inform me that I'm activated for Live9 and they won't roll back to Live8, however I can purchase a new copy!! if I need it. Their support is not Customer Driven. I'm past diplomacy with these folks and I'm open to suggestions. Txs

Unfortunately in this situation, I don't think you'll get any suggestions. ALK is not going to be doing any further updates (maps or program) for version 8. Version 9 is the one getting the map and program updates until it is replaced down the road. So they did do something I have never seen them ever do, which is allowing free upgrades to version 9 for those that had purchased the full version of 8.

But as such, if you use the free upgrade option, it makes you enter your version 8 key to be eligible and it deactivates (permanently) the version 8 key.

Txs for sharing...however as they still sell version 8 I would think they could provide an activation key. Version 9 just doesn't work for my Motorhome and I still can't figure out why my Version 8 worked when I reinstalled it.

(1) What does "doesn't work for my motorhome" mean?
(2) You say that version 8 "worked when I reinstalled it." So it's working then?

Is your problem with V-9 not having the ability to create an Icon with a POI?

I tested the V9 for about 2 hours and then reverted to my V8 which worked. I deactivated my old laptop 2 days ago. When I attempted to install on new laptop it would not activate. The interface on V9 is just too different for my wife to use and confuses me as well. When I first tested I was able to import all my info after locating file. I posted that on this thread I believe. I received a response this AM that Alk could not assist me. I then asked if I bought another $99 program if the would...and of course they could! I have been able to install a 64bit Co Pilot Live 8 and transfer my files however it still needs to be activated. I still can't believe they would require me to purchase another license.....before I spend $99 I'll purchase from someone that will support and appreciate a customer. I will report to my Secretary of State and Alk's as well. Having been in customer service for almost 50 years this is unbelievable and their indifference borders on arrogance. I'm hopeful this speaks to one employee and not their entire operation. I simply want to use what I paid for once and not twice!!!

Aaaah. Now I understand.

You used the CPT8 upgrade key to obtain a free version 9 key. But you installed Version 9 on a DIFFERENT laptop than Version 8 was already running on. This allowed version 8 to be on one computer, and version 9 to be on a second computer at the SAME time.

BUT - your version 8 key was actually disabled from the moment you got the version 9 key. You had just not tried to activate it on another machine yet, and your version 8 had NOT been replaced (normally done during installation of version 9 on the same machine that version 8 is on.) So you could have left version 8 running on the first machine indefinitely. It just would not allow for a NEW installation.

So, when you tried to install it on the other computer, you now will see that it will not enable the key to activate because that key has been permanently deactivated.

From their perspective, you paid them for one active key and they have provided that. There is no provision for the customer not liking the program from version to version. The support technicians do not HAVE the ability to reactivate an old key because the server key management system physically will not let them due to the way that the database code is written by the system administrators. In addition, the customer service rep can't get a NEW key without entering a credit card and purchasing the new key on his terminal.

So, with that said, naturally as will any company, there is SOMEONE higher in the food chain that can get anything done if motivated and reachable. But I wanted you to understand that it is likely that the person you have been conversing with does not have the ability to do what you are asking at his level.
