Garmin StreetPilot for Android on the way?
Boyd
These claim to be videos of the app which will supposedly be introduced at Mobile World Congress in Bacelona next week. Considering the attractive prices on some Android tablets, this could be very interesting.

Thanks Boyd. I sure hope you are right. I really don't like Copilot much. I will jump all over StreetPilot for Android as soon as I can.

Will be really interested in your impressions. I don't have any Android devices (use an iPhone) but have been thinking one of the $200 tablets like the Galaxy Tab 2 7 would be a pretty nice platform. It could also run OziExplorer for Android and I already have my own maps for that.

Looking at those videos, it appears that more of the map is visible and the user interface elements use less screen space than MobilePC or the Nuvi. That would be a welcome change.

I just bought a Nexus 7 refurbished from Tigerdirect.ca for $179. It's a pretty sweet little tablet. It just updated to Android 4.2 (jelly bean).

Very cool. Will defintely be interested in your experiences, both with the (alleged) StreetPilot app or others. StreetPilot especially interests me, because I make my own Garmin maps.

I have ALK Copilot on it. Maps and navigation are good but I don't like the UI much. Guess I'm just too used to Garmin.

I'm on the road right now and mostly living on my phone so not typing much.

Well Mobile World Congress ends tomorrow, and there are no reports of StreetPilot or anything else from Garmin yet. So I'm thinking this was just a false alarm....
