Some things to be aware of, when purchasing ALK CoPilot software

Jun 23 2014 Some things to be aware of:

The software is delivered as a download, only, though ALK doesn't say how large the software is. And they don't declare it a download (for laptops) either.

If you want the software on a disc, you will need to create the disc.

You will need to know 32 bit or 64 bit, and know that before clicking on the specific download button. What happens if you chose wrong? I have no idea.

Good luck getting anyone on the phone, or an email. Emails are computer-generated.

If you have any fear about the process going badly, and being unable to contact ALK for help or refund, then put the charge on a card that has a painless dispute process. I now know NOT to use an ADP TotalPayCard for anything I might need to dispute; I would use my Discover Card. Discover is much better about the dispute process.

ADP wanted to charge me $6 for a new card, and then start the dispute process

If I could have gotten through to ALK, or had been made aware of it being a download, or had been able to get some on-site advice about the 32 bit or 64 bit decision, I might have followed through with the download.

When the time comes to chose 32 bit or 64 bit, there is no Cancel button, and if you fail to download, your card is still charged.

As far as ALK is concerned, you gave them your credit card number, and that's that.

I did, however, after a few hours with ADP TotalPayCard and ALK, get through to ALK with the number supplied by the TotalPayCard CSR, and then got through to an ALK employee who tolerated my irritation and eventually credited my card.

Funny, when I downloaded it, you could download both versions (which I did). That was a while ago though.

Perhaps it was possible, though not explicitly declared. It's as if the ALK webmaster charges per character.

I was fully aware of what I was getting at the time. However, I will agree it was not directly due to the site. I have always found the ALK site to be beyond confusing. But then, I gave up on them years ago any way.

I don't have Copilot on my laptop any longer either. I use it on my phone and tablet but I got them through the Android app store which is very easy to understand.
