BIG learning curve going from Garmin Mobile PC to Delorme Street Atlas
opfor2
HOLY COW!!!!

I just purchased the Delorme Street Atlas 2015 to replace my Garman Mobile PC and WTF, I was thinking that this thing should be as easy as my old Garmin but wow, where do I start??? this thing is confusing as hell.. man...

do you have a specific question? I use SA2014 and could possibly help.

No I don't have a specific question just a BIG learning curve going from a simple program like the Garmin Mobile PC to the Delorme. My new Toughbook CF-30 has a built in GPS receiver which works well the Delorme it's just learning the program..

ok.

I agree - I love the simple display of DeLorme but the ergonomics of the program itself is severely lacking. I bought the Topo version being given the info that it was basically SA with additional options that I could use.

Honestly, GMPC was great. 95% of the time I'm just looking for a moving map. Google Maps with GPS is really all I need!

Copilot is a closer replacement for MobilePC.

A company named ALK. There is a forum on here for it.

Things to be aware of: The user interface is as different from Mobile PC as Street Atlas is. I use it on my Android phone and tablet because it works and gives me what I need. But it was not without a struggle to learn. Even after using it for a couple of years there are still functions that are difficult for me to find.

Map updates are also a problem on the Laptop version. There are long time laptop users who have not seen a map update since 2011. I think it may have been that long since there was an update to the laptop app itself.

Time was when I would trade around through all the packages. I finally settled on SA because it was the more effective at the power user level. It still have problems and I write to Delorme every when they still exist in the newer package, but like anything, it is harder to get to learn because it has so much capability.

Any of you have the Delorme Street Atlas 2015 share or for sale?
matt
SA2015 is already getting tough to use because the charts are so dated. (They actually were last seriously looked at in 2013.) It is the only workable package to do both planning and enroute navigation.

If you really want it, I can get you access to 2015. Reply at matt7323tze at gmail dot com. and I will set both disks in the public space of my drop box.
