Microsoft USB GPS receiver not working with Delorme Street Atlas

Hi , I have MS streets and trips loaded on my 12 in Averetec "Car" laptop
And I also have Delorme 20's road atlas loaded on there as well , But I do not have the originall Delorme GPS receiver and when I insert the MS one and open Delorme it wont recognize the receiver. I enjoy the MS program and it works well but I like the maps on Delorme any tips on not buying another receiver?

Delorme does not recognize the S&T GPS receiver as a USB device. However it will work as a serial input.

Open Streets & Trips and Click on Tools-GPS-Configure GPS Receiver. The resulting screen will show you what COM port the receiver is on ( the highlighted one). Click Cancel and close S&T

I am not sure what Delorme product you have. However if it the same as SA 2008, click on options in the top left corner. On the GPS tab, change the port from USB to the COM port identified by S&T. Click on OK and you should see a GPS signal.

That little trick worked great ! Somethings about the MS program I like and the Delorme has it's perks too so now I have the best of both worlds. Now I need to dig into both of these and educate myself. One other question is the MS
Streets program able to go online for update I have tried a few times and it tells me it cannot allocate

Oh by the way I am a welder and fabricator and made my own mount out of polished aluminum . If anyone is interested I will uplink a pic or too.

When I try to use my Microsoft GPS receiver with DeLorme Street Atlas, I can't get a connection with the receiver even if I try with COM4 port.

I assume you have determined the GPS is actually on COM 4. Make sure the 'Device:' setting in the options screen, GPS tab is set to Generic NMEA as well.

I just tried it successfully with the Microsoft Navation 168 and the previous Pharos 500. If you are using the Pharos, is it possible it is in sirf rather than NMEA mode? I think this is unlikely but can not see any other reason it should not work.

Does your GPS still work with S&T?
