Streets and Trips licensing initialization error 0xc004D301
scottybreeze
it is now march 2014 and I too had the same problem with MS ST 13. I initially had to get MS to remotely install the purchased product on my laptop using a different prod key. it worked perfectly for about two weeks then the error msg came on. I called the number one of the guys provided and about 15 minutes later they had back on my machine. AND THE BEST PART, IT WAS FREE. I didn't have to pay $35. thank you for providing that number. I have saved it in my phone.

I have a brand new dvd Streets & Trips 2013 and get the same error. It worked fine on this computer till it had to be scrubbed, now get this same nasty error code. Like I'd want to spend more money getting another copy of the piece of junk? I've used it over the years, and bought updated versions every few years, now I'm definitely not impressed with Microsoft. If they'd put this piece of junk out then demand you pay to have it fixed sucks!

I just had the same issue. Called Microsoft, and first they wanted to charge me and told me it would take 3 hours. I told them "no thanks". I waited a day, called them again, and they did it for free. Luckily, they didn't remove the repair tool they copied on my computer, so I'd be happy to give it to anyone else that has this issue, so you can avoid the hassle of tech support and fix it yourself.

I very carefully watched what he had to do to fix the issue. These are the steps that were taken:

-Install Streets and Trips 2013, Get error message, click close (if it's already installed, you don't have to install it again)
-Run the repair tool. This might or might not fix it right away. If it doesn't, keep reading...
-Download Streets and Trips 2011 Trial from Microsoft web site.
-Install Streets and Trips 2011 Trial. Get Error again, click close
-Run the repair tool - should fix error
-Uninstall Streets and Trips 2011
-Run Streets and Trips 2013 - it should start activation and work.

Send me a PM if you want a copy of the repair tool. It works for Map Point and Streets and Trips. It's a real easy one to two click type deal.

Hi Duble, and welcome to the forum. The Microsoft tech might have not bothered with deleting the repair tool because the file apparently has an expiry.
duble08
The tech did try to delete the file. In fact he did. I just happened to copy it in the background from a separate machine on my network while we were waiting for the 2011 trial to finish downloading. I don't know if it'll expire or not. There's nothing in the terms and conditions of running the reset tool that say so. But I guess only time will tell!

Larry (Microsoft) wrote earlier in this thread the following:

The patch can't be emailed because it expires after a few days (not the fix...just the tool). Call support and they'll fix you up.

Can you post the repair tool so everybody can use it. ResetTool-10-24.zip

Hi daddy2. Microsoft has not authorized this website to distribute the software tool you are asking for.

...and if this is the tool I'm thinking of, it is time limited. Ie. it will not work for anyone else.

Just had the issue yesterday/today 6/20/2014 and was resolved with Microsoft Support in about 3 minutes with Streets and Trips 2013.
I called the number (866) 452-4755 listed in prior messages.
No options seemed correct so I chose Windows option and was transferred.
Once connected, I asked for a number in case I got disconnected ...
(800) 642-7676 for Game Support.
They did ask for a case # but did not hesitate to help when I did not have it and I was not charged. Top notch support. I should have called last night instead of un-installing and re-installing.

Hi 4aRookie, welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing the information.

I purchased Streets & Trips 2013 to replace my older issue and attained the same lousy pinnacle. "Licensing error etc." After trying most of the attempts listed in these letters I contacted Microsoft Help - spoke to an off-shore individual for 90 min. or so while he tried to fix it only to be told I needed to contact Microsoft support "at their hourly cost" to repair same. I'll never purchase another similar piece from Microsoft. I've switched over to my Garmin for my info. Microsoft support is a joke as far as I'm concerned.

can I get a copy of the repair tool? I got it to work on one laptop but not the other as I keep getting the license error.

Ken / Marvin, I have had the licensing about once a year since I believe the 2010 version. I use the 2011 version now and also have the 2013 version on my Surface but don't like using it on my surface because of screen size. My 2011 version messed up in March or April of this year and Microsoft used the reset tool once again to fix it. It quit me again a couple weeks ago and when I called Microsoft I was told the repair tool was down to call again in 24 to 48 hours. isn't the tool just a zip file? What could go down with that? Any way, now the support for Streets and Trips has ended and they are still telling me it is down to call back in 24 to 48 hours. Is this a problem they are going to continue to fix or am I just wasting my time calling them? I know re-installing the software doesn't work because the error does something to the computer. Will re- installing the operating system fix the issue? The online maps are not an option for me. I deliver seed to farmers and have approx. 170 locations saved in western Missouri and eastern Kansas along with the contact information in the pushpin boxes and use a usb gps to get to my deliveries. Am I correct that an online map has to have internet service to use or can the map be downloaded and saved on the computer. What is the probability that Microsoft will release a file for us to use to fix this issue ourselves if they are not going to continue to repair? Thanks, Donald
Marvin Hlavac
Hi Donald,

- The software "tool" has an expiry date. Perhaps that may be somehow related to them telling you the tool was unavailable at that time and to call them back later.

- I suspect, after the support for the product ends, the chance of them providing any further help may be very small.

- Re-installing the OS + S&T would have likely helped in the past, but I'm not sure if the software activation would still work now, whether or not the Microsoft's software activation service for S&T is still in operation, and/or if MSFT would be willing and able to re-activate your S&T over the phone if needed.

- "What is the probability that Microsoft will release a file for us to use to fix this issue ourselves if they are not going to continue to repair?" I'd say very close to none.
