Laptop GPS World

Thanks very much to everyone who has contributed to Laptop GPS World since the website launched three months ago. There are too many people to mention, but I'll mention at least a few of the regulars in the forum: flannigan, Ken in Regina, edh, nialag, wandrr, Keith, glewis, TechnoGuy, DJEvergreen, tenbear, Wayne in Red Deer, kcflyer, and others.

A special thanks goes to toyfountain for his excellent work on developing his POI Scanner, a freeware add-on for Microsoft Streets and Trips. It looks for your personal POIs (pushpins) on the visible map area on the screen. It then notifies you by sound (beep) if your GPS location is within certain distance from your favorite POI(s). It is in Beta stage, and people are encouraged to test it and provide feedback.

Website stats: Laptop GPS World launched three months ago on October 5, 2007. In October the site had only around 1,000 unique visitors. In November the number of unique visitors went up to over 3,000, and in December it reached over 5,000. Not too bad for a new non-commercial website .
