Website transfer to another server scheduled for tonight, April 24. 2008.
In the preparation for the upcoming release of new version of the forum software (vBulletin 3.7), the website will be transferred to another server.
Reason: The current server runs MySQL Version 4.1.22. Newer MySQL version is recommended for the upcoming vBulletin 3.7. Why not just update MySQL version? The site is presently on a shared server, and the hosting company would need to give everyone on that server one month's notice before making any changes. Laptop GPS World is staying with the existing host, Acenet Inc. The account will be moved onto a server running php 5.2.5 and Mysql 5.0.45. This transfer has been scheduled for tonight, during non-peak hours (23:00 - 06:00 EDT (UTC-5)). Visitors to the site should experience very little to no downtime.
