Laptop GPS World

The website has been updated to version 3.7.0. A potentially useful new feature is the ability of members to create public and private photo albums. The feature is accessible to us via User CP (User Control Panel), and also via Quick Links on top-right of the navigation bar (located at the very top of each page).

My hope is that people will find the new album feature useful for sharing pictures of their GPS navigation equipment in their cars and trucks. And, of course, feel free to use it for uploading other, even personal, photos. As long as pictures is family-friendly, and office-friendly, anything goes .

I haven't yet explored the Photo Album myself, but I will, as soon as the time permits. There is still some work to be done related to this version upgrade.

If there is still a feature or two that you would like to see implemented, don't hesitate to suggest it. Perhaps you've seen a cool feature at some other forum, a feature we don't yet have here - let me know, and I'll try to investigate if it could be added here, too.

I didn't like the original implementation of the Pictures & Albums feature in the new 3.7.0 version. The problem was that when a user clicked the Pictures & Albums link, a user could only see his/her own pictures. To view albums of other members, one would need to go to the user profile of another person. There was no central page one could access to view a list of public albums.

Well, the problem is now solved. There is a new add-in available to solve this issue. I just found out about it less then 15 minutes ago. It took 5 minutes to read instructions + download + install .

Now we have an easily accessible page that will contain a list of all albums. If you create a private album, it will not be listed there.

To view All Albums, click the All Albums link in the navigation bar (the very top of each forum page, approximatelly in the middle).

At the moment there is only one album, consisting of only one picture which I uploaded this morning just for testing purposes. I hope we will find the new Pictures & Albums feature useful and fun.

I just installed another plug-in related to Pictures & Albums. If you scroll to the bottom of the front page www.laptopgpsworld.com, you will see random album pictures. It has the option to show either random or latest. At the moment I enabled "random". When we have more pictures, I may enable "latest" instead.

Thanks to tcassidy for being the first one to start using Pictures & Albums. He uploaded three pictures to his new Albums.

Who's going to be the next?

I have to dig out some old pictures, or use my camera .

Since the photo album feature was implemented, quite a few people have shared their pictures. Thanks very much for that, and please keep them coming. They can educate and inspire others.
