DeLorme Street Atlas 2008 and small hard drive

I have a Dell Latitude CPi D300XT with a 4.01GB hard drive. The OS is Windows XP Home Ver 2002 Service Pack 1.

The OS took 1.34GB and I have 2.67GB free. When I installed SA08 it left me with less than 500mb free. Is it possible to install only part of the US map data? What about putting the map data on a thumb drive or SD card? All help is appreciated!

During the installation of Street Atlas you should be able to change the default location. It will usually default to c:\program files\... but you should be able to change that and it will install the whole thing into the alternate location. 8GB thumb drives are getting pretty cheap these days and that should solve the problem.

Sorry I can't be more specific because it's been a few months since I installed Street Atlas. It should be easy enough to start up the installation and walk through the first couple of steps to get to the installation location and see what options you have, then cancel the installation and decide how you want to proceed (eg. thumb drive, USB hard drive, whatever).

My wife took care of the small hard drive problem. Got me an Acer Aspire One for Christmas! Has a 144 GB harddrive and 1GB of ram! She REALLY loves me!
