Hey Terry, obviously you were never into CB radios.

Courier 23 - Hugely popular CB radio. I had a Courier 40 channel sidebander in the car.

Tram - Another brand of CB radios and antennas. Never owned any.

D104 - An Astatic microphone. Hey kft, did you use it with your Courier base station? A couple of locals used them on their base stations. One was particularly annoying because he used to run a 500W footwarmer at night and took out everything in the area whenever he keyed the mic, including TVs in a one block radius.

Heathkit - built my first guitar amp from a Heath kit in '68.

Re: Wish List for DeLorme Street Atlas 2010

My first CB was a Channel Master. I guess they were trying to get in on the ground floor because the only other products I remember them marketing were TV antenna rotators and antennae. The CB was only 3 channels and, of course, used crystals. My call letters were 17W3287. Later, it was KGI3126. Only 23 channels were available back then.

It was something of a status symbol to have that big 102" whip on the back of your car.

There were always rumors of FCC officials crusing around in big black cars monitoring everyone to see who they could get in trouble.

We heard the same rumours about the Dept of Communications (DOC) up here in Canada. I always figured it was the DOC starting them so they wouldn't have to actually do it.

How could I have forgotten the 102" whip, you were indeed cool with one of these-wasn't there a mobile antenna that had a light at the tip which glowed by rf radiation??

Johnson, Browning, Hallicrafters, Golden Eagle, the rich boys had these....

Ken, never had a 104 but my rich cousing did, it was magnificent.

Now if we could only tie all this into a gps topic

Some off-topic discussions are much more interesting than on-topic stuff.
