Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas
This looks like they have made a lot of improvements. I just wish they had a way to optimize the route to solve the traveling salesman problem like Streets & Trips has.

Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas
I have SA 08 so this would be a nice item to win, plus the fact that I am a Nav Junkie!

Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas
Hi Everybody,
It looks like there a few products highly discussed here. Is there is a place where I can find side by side feature evaluation?
It would be really nice.
Hope to win one. ;-)

I've been a long time user. I wish Delorme would improve their support for Pocket PC / Smart Phone.

Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas
A shoot-out among DeLorme, Streets, Mobile PC, and iGuidance would be really helpful.

Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas
Looks good. Real slick. Quick question: any way to force a trip to somewhere without an address? I'm thinking of the days when a friend and I would drive up the side of a mountain (public land no houses) would be nice to plan a picnic, birdwatching, or other similar trips. I realize it's street atlas but that might be something a few people like myself would use.

Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas
I would like to see Delorme Get involved as did MS with the Discovery groups database. A one time download of all POI would be much easier than what is required now.

If you can find the spot on the map you can just click on it and set it as the end point of your route. Street Atlas will work with that.
The only issue you have is that if there is not a road to that point Street Atlas will route you on roads until it gets you as close as it can and then it will make a final line straight cross-country to the final destination. At that point you're sort of on your own.
...ken...
PS. A better solution for this sort of thing from DeLorme would be there Topo 8 product. It still does on-road routing and guidance but it also shows all the topo stuff so it's more likely you'll be able to see the trails near your picnic sites even if it can't route you on them. Also, for $29.95 you can download all the aerial imagery you want to use with Topo 8 for those kinds of situations.

Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas 2010
It would be nice if the museums and art galleries have been separated to allow the distinction between commercial galleries and true museums.
The "Along the Route" does not work very well in 2008 or any prior.

I don't have SA, but people keep asking me about it. It would be great to win a copy.

Re: Review: DeLorme Street Atlas
In the initial review it states... "the DeLorme Street Atlas 2010 screen started to move and rotate in the direction of travel, as expected."
I currently have Street Atlas 2009 - which behaves the same way - and it's a "feature" I hate. While I see that navigating in a car might make this helpful, there are times when I really wish I could turn this off, and lock the display to North. I know I can click on the compass and rotate this display, it doesn't stay locked. Is there an option I'm missing?
