Well I just got this software looked over the computer requirements and all my Laptops fall into the requirements easily. When trying the 3D view all I see is either a black screen or blocks of color. I have heard that you need 128 megs of video memory to run the 3d app. Well that should be on the box don't you think? In any case I shared 128 megs on my Acer laptop and it still wont display the 3D view. I wanted to use this on my Ultra Portable but the 3d wont work. How many Ultra Portables have you seen with 128 megs of ram for the video and a good 3d graphics card? It seems to me if you turn that mode on it should scale done the 3D display for that mode to be used on Ultra Portables.

Much too much info on the screen for a UMPC. Try iNav iGuidance or Garmin Mobile PC. Not as many features but they do a great 3D view and scale well to small screens.

I've experienced the "Black Screen in 3D", too. It happened when I installed DeLorme Street Atlas 2009 on a (mobile) "desktop" PC, which I built in 2003. I'm able to boot the PC in Windows Vista or Windows XP. In Vista I get the "Black Screen in 3D", and I attribute it the the 5 year old hardware (specifically the video adapter). In Windows XP it still works fine, though.
I've had several problems with this old PC recently, and this was the last issue that finally made me to spend money on new equipment. I now have a HP tx 2000, a convertible laptop PC / tablet PC, running Windows Vista. Now DeLorme Street Atlas 2009 works beautifully in 3D.
