Default Dual Displays

I have a dual display setup of 24 in portrait as primary and 30 in landscape as secondary display, and I must keep this configuration for other apps.

I would like to open S&T Keys and Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 on the secondary display but keys insists on opening on the primary display. Can this be changed?

Using UltraMon, I can open Streets & Trips alone on the secondary display.

I realize that keys is geared for laptop use but I find it useful for desktop too.

Lastly can we have the option of not opening any panes on start ie no route planner and no gps pane?

Thanks

Dosto, I'm not sure about the dual-display solution, but I'll try to look at the start-with-no-pane suggestion.

Thanks.

After a reboot, I found that I could get keys to start S&T on the second display but not at last window size. It would still be best if keys could remember last position and window size of S&T on a dual display.

At the present time S&T Keys starts Microsoft Streets and Trips maximized. Does it start maximized also in your dual-monitor configuration?

Perhaps if the start-maximized feature is disabled it would remember the position & size. I could consider making start-maximized optional (not sure if many people would use it, though).

With S&T alone, I do not have it set to start maximized.

Without ultramon, keys will start S&T only on the primary display but at last window size. With ultramon, keys can start S&T on the second display but either fully maximized or height maximized at a fixed width and will not start at last size. This is on XP SP2 .

I think disabling start maximized would be useful for desktop users.

Thanks.

The "start-maximized" feature I mentioned is a function of S&T Keys. There is no way to disable it by users at the present time. If you press F2-key, or if you click the S&T Keys desktop shortcut, to start Microsoft Streets and Trips, it will start maximized.

However, if you don't wish to start maximized, especially since you are using it in your home or office environment, starting Streets & Trips by clicking its own desktop shortcut should start it in the position and size of the last session.

Yes, that is what I am doing now. It's just two extra clicks to get back to the map I was working on in the last session since S&T doesn't seem to have an option of starting at last session map. Keys is still on and is still a great utility.

I could add an "Advanced Options" tab, and there an option to start maximized. The option would be selected by default, so S&T Keys would still work as it does now, but you could de-select the option if it suits you better. But just tell me, on you desktop at home or office, what difference does it make if you start Streets & Trips with S&T Keys? What other functionality does S&T Keys do for you when you press F2 or if you click the desktop S&T Keys icon?

If I start keys with either F2 or icon, S&T starts on second display with the last session map at a fixed window size with height maximized (with ultramon enabled). I then have to readjust window size.

If I start S&T itself, it starts on the second display with template map at last session window size. I then have to open recent file. Keys is enabled.

In either case, the other keys seem to work fine.

Oh, I see. You use it to open the last used map file. I use that feature, too.

Give me a few days to do the Advanced tab. I'll also look into the possibility to start with all panes closed.
