I recently upgraded to Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 (because of the auto-reroute feature) and also own Microsoft AutoRoute 2007. I'm running WinXP.

When I download and run Keys2007 (v 2.43), I get a "Please wait..." bok superimposed on an error message reading "Can't find '\Streets.e" with the rest of the message covered up.

I tried uninstalling S&T2008 and got the same error.

Keys2008 seems to work fine with Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Laptop GPS World.

* No need to reinstall Microsoft Streets and Trips, or Microsoft AutoRoute. Any problem with S&T Keys (or AR Keys), is directly related to S&T Keys (or AR Keys), and it is highly unlikely related to any issue with Streets & Trips, or AutoRoute.

* I think the problem may stem from the fact that I didn't think many people would want to run 2007 version of one product, and 2008 version of another product. But since Microsoft never released AutoRoute 2008, you have no choice but to run AutoRoute 2007 - and here comes the problem with my Keys .

* I suspect you could "fix" the problem (at least temporarily - till your next trip to EU or NA), by removing the keys.ini file located in C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\keys.ini (or a similar location).

That file contains also your Home and Favorite locations, so I'd suggest not to delete it, but only rename it, or move it to another location temporarily.

The next time you run AR Keys, it will create it's own keys.ini with proper values.

After using Microsoft AutoRoute 2007 in Europe, upon your arrival to North America, remove/delete/or rename the keys.ini file again, before you run Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008.

Thanks for your suggestion - it seems to work fine. Swapping the keys.ini files isn't such a big deal, and I'll never be using both S&T2008 and AR2007 interchangebly.

I would have liked to wait for AR2008, but I needed something for Europe soon.

By the way, I notice in AR Keys on the General tab of the Options there's a checkbox labeled "Re-route automatically", which is not shown on your documentation webpage. Will this cause AR2007 to have the same feature as what's been added to S&T2008?

Yes, it will (if you enable the feature). And in my not-so-humble opinion, some users may actually feel the auto-recalc feature works even better than the one in Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 - because it works instantly - S&T Keys / AR Keys does it the moment S&T 07 / AR 07 announces you are off-route.

But I think the best thing was that people who liked the feature were able to turn it on, and people who didn't want the feature, were able to turn it off. This is unfortunatelly no longer possible with Streets and Trips 2008.
