Re: Review: Garmin Mobile PC

Here is 800x480 on a 7" screen. I may have changed the zoom as it is controlled by the scroll wheel on the mouse.

Re: Review: Garmin Mobile PC

OK thanks. Could you get a screenshot of it at 1280x800? Or 1280x720?

No, 1024x600 is max on this UMPC. Marvin may have that on his tablet at 12.1"

Re: Review: Garmin Mobile PC

Yes, I've got 1280 x 800 here on the new convertible TabletPC. Garmin Mobile PC looks just fine. Unfortunately I cannot post a screenshot now. But I see no reason for issues on a 7" monitor - the same Garmin software is used on 4" (and smaller) displays of portable navigation devices.

Cool. I might throw a couple pics of my car on here after I get navigation and voice recognition software all set up. I better wash my car too. Having a black car in Montana kinda sucks.

17" monitor beats the little 4" PNDs many people use nowadays

Does anyone know if saved route files created in Mobile PC can be exported to a nuvi 750 or vice versa?

I don't have a 750 but the manual says you can use MapSource to load routes to it.

You can transfer routes between Mobile PC and MapSource the same way.

So you should be able to transfer routes between Mobile PC and the 750 (in either direction) using MapSource.

I'd read about Mapsource but would prefer to use Mobile PC if the file types would be compatible. Does anyone know? I've researched this a little and even put in a question with Garmin but have not heard from them.

You're not using MapSource? You don't know what you are missing. Using the transfer controls with you device (750, Mobile PC);
you can move waypoints, routes, tracks and in some cases maps from one location to the other.
You can build routes in MapSource on your computer and move them to your device.
You can look up addresses and add them to favourites on you device.
You can look at the height profile of tracks created by your device.

A very versatile program for searching for addresses and creating routes.

I'm not talking about the gpx or NVM files if the 750 uses them. MapSource can transfer routes, waypoints individually without wiping out what is already on the 750. Or take all those waypoints you have on the 750 and make them available in Mobile PC.

Take some time to learn to use MapSource with your 750. You won't regret it!
