Low Audio Volume of Garmin Mobile PC

Hi all, posted this before but I am wondering if anyone else is having my problem?
The audio output from Garmin Mobile PC is very low on my laptop, almost impossible to hear over any slight road or engine noise.
Switching to nRoute and the audio is fine.
This is very frustrating as voice guidance is the prime reason for using software like this when driving.
Has anyone experienced this problem themselves or heard of other users with the same problem?
Thanks.

Yes, very soft on my HP tablet; the British English is a little louder, but does not say the street names.

Re: Low Audio Volume of Garmin Mobile PC

Even though Garmin Mobilile PC has been the primary GPS navigation software for me over the past few weeks, I haven't been able to actually notice this issue because the setup that I'm using includes external amplified speakers . I will be changing my current equipment (PC built into my truck) to a new one (convertible TabletPC) within the new few weeks. Then I will be able to check the audio volume, too.

Re: Low Audio Volume of Garmin Mobile PC

Heres an idea, have GMPC running in the foreground with nRoute running in the background.
That way you get to watch GMPC on the screen and listen to nroute on your speakers.
This also has the added bonus of; if GMPC crashes, nRoute (or maybe iGuidance) is already running in the back ground.
I'm not saying that GMPC is likely to crash, it's just that the only way I know of using multiple programs W/ one receiver and GMPC, requires the use of the software xport v1.21 (on the rear end of GPSgate), which likes to just stop working or crash my system, it's like it wanders off to look at a deer, sometimes it comes back in a few seconds or just dies all together, on a few occasions it blue screens.

On another note I have GMPC running on a 2002 HP laptop w/ no volume problems what so ever.

Thats a good idea but nRoute doesnt speak street names like GMPC can. I am going to play around with some audio enhancements, see if I can improve things.

A second idea most car stereos have auxiliary line in ports, maybe you could run it through your car's speakers

Re: Low Audio Volume of Garmin Mobile PC

peejayw, also you may consider buying inexpensive amplified speakers for your laptop. They will have the benefit of being independent from you vehicle's sound system. Google Product Search - Laptop Amplified Speakers

There are actually other options, too. If you car doesn't have auxiliary line in ports, as Ben24502 suggested to check, you could still use your car's own speakers by feeding your laptop's signal to your FM radio via an FM transmitter designed for the purpose. Google Product Search - Laptop FM Transmitter

Your local RadioShack likely sells a very inexpensive cassette player adapter. If you car has a cassette tape player, than this may be one of the easiest ways to play the sound from your laptop via the car's speakers. Google Product Search - Cassette Tape Adapter

Great suggestions Marvin. But how bout Garmin figuring out to do a software upgrade to fix the problem internally! Especially since some of the "voices" are louder than others.

Re: Low Audio Volume of Garmin Mobile PC

My laptop does not seem to have an audio-out connection, has squillions of other types ! Perhaps I will have to wait for Garmin to rectify this as suggested above.

Re: Low Audio Volume of Garmin Mobile PC

True, the other possibility would be a BT headset I guess but the low audio may still be apparent.
I will try the headphone socket as you suggest.
Thanks
