Will activation key work in Garmin Mobile PC w/GPS20x?

If you have the deluxe version (comes with gps sensor) Then you pick up the software only version. Can you use the key you get for the software only version to unlock deluxe version. So that any gps reciever can be used? Or must you remove the deluxe version and then install software only. So any gps can be used?

I wrote to Garmin tech support about useing the key from software only on deluxe version. Here is what they said
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
I would be happy to help you with this. You would need to uninstall the deluxe package version and then install the software only version to use it with a third party receiver. Please let me know if I can further assist you.

So I guess I'll be doing that.

Sorry for my late reply. I saw your posting yesterday, but I was unable to answer at that time, and it just skipped from my mind later.

No, don't uninstall anything. Just enter the code and you are fine. You will be able to use both, the Garmin GPS20x USB receiver, or any other compatible 3rd party USB GPS receiver.

I've done it, and it worked. (At least with the earlier version numbers it worked.)
