It seems there will be a new version soon, the the software Update is still pulling 5.00.30 though.

  • Update COM port searches and display listings.
  • Correct the display of the last selection in Fuel Prices if viewed after a Sort is completed.
  • Correct the product key entry processing when not connected to the Internet.
  • Correct default button highlighting when viewing nearby airports and Contacts.
  • Correct default button highlighting when paging up/down on some list fields.
  • Correct default button highlighting within address wizard.
  • Correct distance display for airports that are thousands of miles away.
  • Correct reorder via page to display numbers correctly.
  • Correct application error when displaying detour by turns page before having a GPS position.
  • Correct default button highlighting when returning to the Main Menu page.
  • Correct application error when selecting point information in the Browse Map page.

Like to see the Traffic and Google buttons found in GMXT, nevertheless, I enjoy the software very much.

I wonder if it will fix the incompatibility with MapSource software version 6.14.1 ?

And it is still showing

It's 144MB so it's not a short download. I haven't installed it yet and I can't find an official posting for it anywhere on Garmin's site, so try at your own risk.

Funny, I could have sworn I downloaded it from the first link but it isn't there now! Anyway, it installed fine on my tablet. The installation took longer but the other upgrades were only 20 meg. As soon as I update MapSource, I'll see if it works.

I just tried sending a waypoint from MapSource 6.14.1 to GMPC 5.00.50. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work.

I'm not sure that anyone else cares about this but 5.00.50 can no longer identify my GPS10x as a Garmin product. It comes up as COM4:BthModem2 instead of GPS 10x Software v2.20 etc. I also lose the power options for that unit. It still works ok but I went back to 5.00.30 anyway.

The Garmin page linked originally by erictai in the very first post has been edited. It now no longer mentions version 5.00.50.

Garmin might have decided to do some last minute improvement(s) to the upcoming version 5.00.50. By the way, if anyone @ Garmin happens to read this, I think there are several people around here, who would be more than willing to help with Beta testing, if needed. Just ask. Or better yet, join the forum.

It's interesting that the new upgrade file will be so much larger than the previous ones. I wonder what additional data it contains.

I think Garmin withdrew the new version for more bug fixes that they forgot, just laugh if you don't believe me.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing, "Not yet ready for Prime Time"

I also thought itt was interesting that they skipped over 5.00.40.

Perhaps they've decided to make 5.00.50 work with the new version of MapSource too (Hint, hint ; if anyone at Garmin is listening/lurking).

My guess is they have to correct the scan order for the GPS. It should scan Bluetooth first, especially if you tell it to. The MapSource problem will probably need a MapSource update.
