Default Cellphone Legislation in Alberta, GPS next???

Recently one of our Alberta backbench MLA's introduced a bill to restrict cell phone usage in auto's. He is a member of the PC's so the bill is likely to get hashed and rehashed and may eventually be reintroduced in a newer flavor by one of our Premier's more favored hacks.
Discussion on the radio and TV polls seems to favor restricting other items that would tend to distract drivers as well as cell phones.
I know that there are some provinces where cell phone usage is restricted or banned.
Has that legislation affected GPS use?
The general consensus seems to be that GPS is more of a driving tool than a cell phone is.
Has anyone here got a feel for what might happen??

Ed

Ed, it ranges from scary to funny, how various jurisdictions deal with cell phone usage by motorists:

India: Drivers are not allowed to use even hands-free phones. Ban now enforced with prison sentences.

Ireland: Banned, with a US$380 and/or up to 3 months imprisonment on a third offence. Hands-free kits allowed, although that is subject to review.

Netherlands: Fines up to €2,000 or two weeks in jail

Poland: Fines can be as high as US$1,000

Taiwan: If the driver is using a reflective screen on the car, local privacy laws forbid stopping the car for violating the ban.

Colorado: Teens with restricted licenses are banned - but can only be stopped for another violation first.
