I've been a pretty steady visitor to Laptop GPS World since the beginning (Thanks, Marvin!). Until lately, the 'New Posts' list would be primarily Streets and Trips with an occasional post about one of the other solutions out there.
While I don't have any statistics, it seems like there has been a major shift away from S&T discussions to discussions about the other products out there. The total thread count is still tilted towards S&T, but I have a feeling the current threads are more focused on everything else. Just a random observation. Are we all happy and productive with S&T, or are the new contenders attracting the bulk of the attention? Rick |

Rick, this is an interesting topic. I also noticed fewer postings in the Streets and Trips forum as of late. But I think we are just experiencing the quiet before the storm. Each time a new version of a product comes out, there is a spur of activity - questions, comments, etc. The current S&T 2008 version actually released a month and a half before this web site even existed. I'm sure it's going to be quite busy around here when Microsoft Streets & Trips 2009 comes out. I'll try to get S&T 2009 before it comes to stores, so Laptop GPS World can have all the details about the new features (if any), and plenty of screenshots, ready to be published at the release day (or earlier).
When this forum started, the activity was mainly in the S&T section. As reviews of other programs were posted, they attracted discussions in other forum sections, too. Some of the most interesting discussions are the ones started when a new program version comes out. The latest such thread, Review: Garmin Mobile PC, was read over 10,000 times, and attracted 140 replies to date. Before Garmin Mobile PC came out, the Garmin forum was much less active - but now it's nice to see the activity there. The same happened in the case of DeLorme Street Atlas forum, and Alk CoPilot Laptop/Truck forum. No much activity in there when the web site first opened, but when new versions came out, the forums picked up. Hopefully a couple of years down the road all forums here at Laptop GPS World will be full of activity (if we are still around that long ).
