Hi dave61,

Welcome to Laptop GPS World.

Yes, ALK CoPilot would seem like a logical choice as GPS navigation software for an RV, since there is no other laptop GPS navigation program that does large-vehicle routing. However, you may have read responses by several long-time users of ALK CoPilot, who were disappointed by the new version 11. The program was completely rewritten, a bunch of features was removed. Earlier versions of ALK CoPilot had features which made the product unique. With many of the features removed, the program may be easier to learn for a first time user, but people who've used it for years do miss the old functionality.

Hopefully other RV-ers will give you their feedback, but I think Microsoft Streets and Trips is good at trip planning. The actual GPS navigation may not be as neat as some other GPS programs, but I think as an RV driver, you may need the planning functionality first, and the GPS second. Just my opinion, and I'm hoping some RV folks will tell you what they've tried, and what they ended up using.

Marvin what do they mean copilot live. Is that mean I get news of road and what might be ahead or is it something other. I just don't know what all I should purchase.

Dave61, the word "Live" in the case of ALK CoPilot refers to the features available when you are connected to the Internet. Users who have the luxury of mobile Internet connectivity may enable (free of charge) real-time traffic feature and also the "track-me" feature (you can give some people permission to track your location on a map over the Internet).
