Laptop version of Navmii - online software activation
Are you getting stuck at the above page during the online activation process? It is because of the "Device model" drop down menu. There is no item to select, however, please select an empty item, as shown on the screen shot bellow, to procede with software activation.
Read other topics related to the laptop version of Navmii GPS navigation software in our Geolife Navmii forum at Laptop GPS World.
See you in the forums.

re: Laptop version of Navmii - online software activation
I notice that it wants the device model and device ID. Once I activate, is it tied forever to the device I choose in this dialog? I was thinking I would install it on my desktop first, just to get familiar with it, but if I can't reinstall it on my laptop or netbook I guess I'll have to do the installation on one of them immediately instead of playing with it on my desktop for a bit. ????

Only one device may be activated per license. I note there is a special on the second activation for £4 for the next 2 weeks.

Thanks Terry,
I don't want two activations. I just want one. But I was hoping to mess about with it on my desktop while we wait for a North American version of the maps to appear, then move it to my netbook or laptop for further testing with maps I can navigate with.
With UK maps I can't navigate anywhere, anyway, so it would be much nicer to explore the features and functions on the desktop while we wait.
I like the way iNav has done it with iGuidance. You can install iGuidance wherever you want, say on the desktop for planning and the netbook for navigation. When you want to switch from one computer to the other you just use their activation tool to go online and deactivate on one computer, then use the activation tool on the other computer to activate it and off you go. It's really great .. the very best activation function of any of the GPS software manufacturers by a huge stretch.
I wonder if Navmii has a similar option available or planned?

Hi Ken,
Available.. no, our activation system is a little limted in that respect at present.
Planned.. certainly
If you're really keen to see the app working before the US maps are released, PM me i'll arrange a 7-day trial product key for you.

Re: Laptop version of Navmii - online software activation
Hi Navmii,
 to Laptop GPS World.
Ken may not reply soon, as he is enjoying his family vacation now, and likely he finds himself often in an area without Internet access.
Ken, Terry, and I do have (thanks to Matt) Navmii PC version 1.1 Build 532 with European map data. None of us is in Europe, but it was sufficient to at least have a look at some of the functionality.

That's good to hear. I prefer to plan on my desktop with its nice big screen and keyboard. So it would be nice to be able to easily move my activation between my desktop for planning and my netbook for navigation.

Thanks for the offer. If you've checked out the "... First Impressions" thread you'll see that Marvin has already arranged for a couple of us to receive an evaluation key. Unfortunately there's not much more we can add to our reviews until we get the North America maps for it.
If you get a minute it would be great if you could pop over to that thread and see if there's anything you feel comfortable responding to. There are a couple of issues we have raised there that are, I think, independent of which maps you have.
