Has anyone tried out any laptop software on the eeePC using the Windows XP install? This might make an ideal portable platform.

![]() Paul, I've seen Asus EeePC in a couple of stores around here, too, and I have to admit I was tempted to buy one, even though I have no need for a new PC. The above photos illustrate how small this computer is, but I think in real life Asus EeePC looks even smaller, especially if you see one in a computer store placed right beside another laptop.

I saw people using them at CES and they make the ideal travel machines. I'll probably get one once the Windows version comes out in the first quarter.

![]() On Friday (January 24, 2008) a Windows XP version was launched in Japan. The price is ¥50,000 ($468/£239/€320). Let's hope it'll be available to the rest of the world, soon. In the mean time numerous websites provide step-by-step instructions on how to install Windows XP on Asus EeePC. I think Deluo NaviStick USB GPS receiver would be a very good fit for Asus EeePC.

The 'original' Eee PC comes with a 7 inch screen. Asus just unveiled today at CeBIT 2008 its new Eee PC with a larger, 9" display (1024 x 600). Later this year consumers will be able to purchase these small laptops with either Linux or Windows operating system.

Probably be pricier than the Eee, but looks like it has all the stuff of a 'real' laptop. |

I think soon we will see other tiny laptops on the market even in the same price range as Eee PC. Windows devices are getting smaller in general. Asus is now showcasing a couple of its Ultra-Mobile PCs with integrated GPS receivers at CeBIT 2008.

DigiTimes is reporting that second-generation Eee PC will include 8.9 inch touch-screen, and possibly even GPS support. Shipments are expected to begin in May or June (2008), and the price will be around US$500.
Unrelated, but also of interest, recently I read about a possible inclusion of GPS support in new Dell laptops.

Hi.
I purchased a Asus Eeepc 700 with linux. I also purchased Windows XP professional. Installed perfectly and runs without any hickups. I have a bluetooth GPS reciever and USB bluetooth stick. I have original GPS software that runs under XP and Eeepc beautifully. Im sure if you search in google it will help you on how and which software to install. Goodluck. |

I purchased a eee PC900 with Xp last week. My intention is to set it up with a workable version of City Select, that I am presently using with my IQ3600. Presently, I have both Delorme TOPO 6 and SA 2007 instaled on SD card. Both are too busy for my use, but the display and size is excelent for this use.

![]() First I can add some feedback in this topic... I'm using an Asus eeePC with Garmin Mobile PC and it works very well. I've also installed Google Earth Plus and Earth Bridge in cache mode to provide a relief / satellite view / track of our position to passengers and it's awesome ! But now, I'm indeed very interested on how to mount it in the vehicle. So, eeePC users, if you have some experience to share, I'm listening carrefully. ![]() I've tried those cheap solutions: http://www.mountguys.com/category_s/1857.htm But it hasn't worked: the location of the eeePC was getting way too low to be able to look at it comfortably.
