Hello everyone,
This is my first post although I have been here for a couple of days. I am looking for a good deal for GPS receiver for my laptop in Toronto, no matter within or without software. Does anyone have any recommended for this? Thanks. |

Hi chenmoon,
Welcome to Laptop GPS World. ![]() You've likely already tried googling for toronto usb gps. Not too many stores carry these items. There is a store (Radio World) on Steeles Ave, just east of Hwy-400, that sells GPS PNDs, but I don't really think they have USB or Bluetooth GPS receivers that you could use with your laptop PC. You could walk into any Future Shop and buy Microsoft Streets and Trips with GPS Locator for just over $100, but it may not be cost effective if you just want to use the included USB GPS receiver (GPS-500 by Pharos). There are a few stores across Canada that you could order from (GPS City, GPS Central, Canada GPS, etc). Also you could check the prices south of the border. Two online retailers in the US (Semsons and Deluo) offer discounts to members of Laptop GPS World. Semsons sells the popular GlobalSat BU-353 for only $36 today (June 2008).

If you check the electronics stores like Future Shop, Best Buy or office suppliers like Staples and Office Depot you might come across a blow-out on an older version of either Microsoft Streets&Trips or DeLorme Street Atlas. You can sometimes get either one with a GPS receiver for about the same price as a good GPS receiver alone. I did. The GPS receiver in Streets&Trips is excellent. I have heard good things about the one with Street Atlas, too.
Both of those receivers are USB, not Bluetooth, if that makes a difference. ...ken... |

Thanks Marvin and Ken.
I found some good deal (maybe good, but I am not sure) list below: 1. MS Streets&Trips 2006 with receiver ( Refurbish / Brand new): $29.99/$39.99 2. MS Streets&Trips 2007 with receiver ( Refurbish / Brand new): $39.99/$49.99 3. MS Streets&Trips 2008 with receiver (Brand new): $69.99 All for USB wired receiver. The more money, the receiver size smaller as I see. |

In Streets&Trips 2007 and 2008 it's the same GPS receiver. I would go for a new 2007 or 2008. 2008 will give you the latest map data if you are interested in playing around with Streets&Trips. If you aren't, then get the 2007. Same receiver and it's a good one.

Hi Chenmoon
Where did you find the GPS receiver for MS Street and Trips 2008 for $69.99? I need a new one for my program as the cable to the receiver is worn out and broken at the usb plugin. Thanks for any information that you can provide! Jocelyn |
