Re: Reasons why Activation is for the birds

I have one that was bought right after they released it --- that activation is apparently OK.

Problem is, I cannot get the second activation, which means my netbook's iGuidance is sitting gathering dust.

My feeling right now is that they should go with some sort of a hardware key (where you are given 2 units (like a mini USB type that is so tiny that once plugged in, it hardly protrudes).

I mean, I understand the need to have anti-piracy, but there has to be a better way than activation via the internet.

Emailed them again just now --- lets see if their 2-4 hrs response time is anywhere close.

Re: Reasons why Activation is for the birds

Finally they replied that "I have had 2 activations":

"Upon looking into your record, our server shows you have indeed activated on 2 different PC's. 1st time on 8/2/07, and 2nd time on 8/28/07. In order for you to activate on any other PC's, you will need to de-activate iGuidance on at least one of those 2 PC's. To de-activate, please launch license manager appl under C:\program files\inav\iguidance and select "internet de-activate" and then click on "de-activate" again on the next screen. Make sure your PC is connected to the internet when you perform this."

So, I emailed them back asking them to reset the counter because I only have one valid activation (the other one was probably on the computer that did not "take" when their activation server kept crashing.

As of Jan 9, no response.

So much for response within hours.
