i am using a chart program cmap which receives a signal from a generic gps receiver through a usb/com port.if i set up a route sequence, i can then go on a voyage. during this voyage it is possible to use an autopilot. output signal 4800 to a com port. the "feed for this autopilot is a nmea sentence called apa or apb. this signal is generated by the program using waypoint and gps data. my problem now is (and thats where i look for help), has someone heard of a program that uses these sentences and puts out commands to control a motor for steering a boat (in my case)? is there anybody out there that can help. ![]() cheers, pmv-2007 |

Sorry about the previous post ... I couldn't resist.
You might have a lot more success looking for a forum for sailors/boaters/fishing. I'll bet there is equipment out there that already does that. EDIT: I Googled "boat autopilot nmea apa controller". Here's just one example of what was found. Perhaps this software will help. If you search on the same thing I did, or something similar to tune the search better, you will find lots of other stuff, too. ...ken...
