RAM MOUNT FAIL
Typical today...Typical with what has happened in America...
I received an order from RAM mount today...and the quote end quote "NO DRILL" mount FAILED...
Before ordering I spoke at length with a rep on the phone...
The floor/base plate that is supposed to match up with seat bolts was off by a mile...not only were the actual planar/flat hole layouts off...the shoddy bends in the plate metal exacerbated the situation...
Can you say sledge hammer and vise?
Yes, I did get the right mount (sic)...
Options are to whip out the grinder and start hacking on it...or/and drag it to the drill press to make new mount holes...
Word to the wise...
The RAM MOUNT "no drill" hype is BS
Carson Wales
Its disgusting what this country has become in terms of American Quality...the RAM parts are farmed out to the lowest bidder in China/Far East...and NOBODY is checking the veracity or quality at the RAM distribution point...they falsely assume they are getting an accurate product...
Sigh

Re: RAM MOUNT FAIL
Carson, I'm sorry to hear about your bad RAM mount experience. It could be helpful if you provide part number, or a link to the product, and the year/make/model of the vehicle you intended to use it for.

Re: RAM MOUNT FAIL
Carson,
Are you sure they didn't send you the wrong brackets fot your particular vehicle. Did you contact the company to find out if they would do anything to rectify the situation?
I bought the no drill set up for my 2005 Dodge Ram 2 years ago and it took me under 10 minutes to install. I love it, I regularly put it in and out of my vehicle depending on what type of traveling I am doing and have had zero problems. I have found mine to be solid and reliable, also very easy to adjust for either the driver or passenger to view the computer or to set it so both can view.
Sorry to read about your problems.

Re: RAM MOUNT FAIL
I've owned two different mounting plates from RAM, and both were of the highest quality and completely accurate.
I wrote to RAM suggesting an improvement in the product for my particular car, and was surprised to get responses from the president on down. They took my suggestion, and even sent me the upgraded part.
Hey, accidents happen and suppliers screw up. We're all (mostly) human. Give RAM a chance to fix the problem, and turn down the drama queen act.
