Laptop GPS World

This is what's happening,

-Deluo Navstick USB

* When I have the notebook on battery power it has great signal reception, full strength.

* When I plug in wall power source, signal drops from full strength to minimal or no signal at all.

What could it be? The only thing I can think of is maybe it directs enough power to charge the notebook battery that it takes away from ports?

I'm charging it up now to 100% with reciever on to see if it will go from 3 or 4 sats back up to 8 or 9.

A 3D fix is marginal at this time drops in and out.

This is very interesting problem. In addition to the above info, you also mentioned in another thread, that you experience the same symptoms while using car adapter.

This could be related to some laptop issue. Could you test the DeLuo NavStick USB GPS on another laptop?

I'm trying same device and software as well as CoPilot 10 & 11 without issue on my other machine a Thinkpad T41.

The other Thinkpad is an X31. I called tech support from the seller of that machine and they are sending me out a replacement as I was also having issues with the left and right click at times too.

It seems that it would be an issue in the bios in the Thinkpad X31 or so I'm told by the tech. So hopefully a new machine will fix both of these issues.

I'm really liking the Garmin Mobile PC Online features, I must say they are more usefull than the "Live" features of CoPilot.

Greg, thanks to your Deluo NavStick USB GPS, you will now have a brand new laptop and the left and right click issue will be a thing of the past, too . Not bad !

Just an update to this issue,

it definitely was not a conflict with Deluo but rather an issue with the notebook or the bios of it, just as the tech told me. I just recieved the replacement Thinkpad x31 today and the Deluo Navstick works without any issues in the forward com port behind display.

The replacement notebook has bluetooth as well , no usb cable needed for "tethering" (cell phone as a modem) while on the road.

Marvin, I will get some pictures of my setups in both vehicles tommorrow.

Ducati, I'm glad your laptop has been replaced, and all is working with no problems! I'm very much looking forward to the pictures. The new Pictures & Albums feature has only a few entries so far .

It may look in the picture that the Deluo Navstick is resting on the dash but it is not, there is a small gap. It surprises me a little that the machine will not move, even at speed around corners or over bumps. It's been about a month of daily use without any issues.
