Linux & GPS

I am considering building a new desktop. Has anyone any experience using Streets and Trips with Ubuntu or one of the other Linux op systems?

I'm not sure if Microsoft Streets and Trips can somehow be made to work under Linux. Some time ago there was some talk about Roadster, a mapping solution for Linux, but I'm not sure at what stage the project is right now. Here's a little bit of info from 2005 »

edh, check out this article: Review: Four GPS Software Packages for Linux

Is anyone around here using Linux + a mapping program with or without GPS?

Thanks Marvin,
I'm going to have to decide whether to build or buy. Whichever, I'll prob try this laptop on a linux op sys if I can. Maybe this fall.
