Mike, read the posting before mine . JIVEY writes Microsoft has a fix, but you need to phone the MS Tech Support for it. They will apparently fix it for you while on the phone. I guess it's now just a matter of taking a half an hour for the phone call. It may be worth giving it a try.

I should add that when calling MS Tech support. they where unable to verify my
product key. Mine was purchased at staple us. they where willing to help anyways. The whole thing took less then an hour.After he connected to my laptop he did a DX report then DL ST_tools.exe From what the tech said its a common problem. Also he updated my maps and reconfigured my GPS locater.
So if you have an hour to spare? i'm sure they can fix you up.

Thanks for the input on this. When you called Tech Support, did you have to 'pay' for this fix?

No Sir, Did not cost me anything but some time. Give em a call I am very pleased they where quite helpfull. he even spoke good english...lol

Marvin: I did read the post above yours.
Thanks for the follow up.
The only reason I haven't tried to contact Microsoft support is because the only link I can find is one that charges $35 for the contact. My mathematics says it isn't wise for me to spend $35 on software that cost me $39. Under that condition I would rather use my 2007 and wait for the 2009 version and maybe buy that one. Although I may just stick with 2007 since I have begun to rely on other programs like Live Search Maps and Garmin Map Source.

Mike, but JIVEY says he wasn't required to pay for customer service. I don't remember what was involved in phoning MS, it's been several months since I used their tech support regarding Streets & Trips, but I didn't pay a penny either.

Thanks again for the reply.

I admit I have spent so much time on this I probably lean toward giving up. However, I'm goint to try to find a phone # I can use to "maybe" not spend more on this can I should.

I'll let you know if I can find it.

I don't have Streets and Trips on this laptop, so I cannot look up the phone number, but I know where you can locate it easily. It is in the help file somewhere. It it may be accessible by clicking Help > About ...

I tried a "short" search on my S&T 2007 and didn't find anything. I'll spend some time tomorrow to see if I can find a phone contact and I'll let you know what I find.

Mike,
The number for Microsoft Tech Support is 866-452-4755 if my notes are correct.
Since I returned my 2008 S&T, I plan to wait for the 2009 version. At least now I have some confidence that 2009 will work.
If I understand it, Microsoft takes control of your PC and makes the necessary changes. Do you know if it requires a broadband connection? I have only slow dial-up.

Thanks a lot for that info. I have copied it and will keep it in my huge folder on this subject.

I don't thing I want to go through a lot more time and effort on this 2008 subject, since I am happy with 2007 working well with me.

However, I think your info will help me to buy 2009, when it comes out. I really enjoy using Streets as I have said before, for many years.

I think I'm just going to wait for 2009 to come out and try again.

Appreciate your help. Hope I can return the favor, someday. Same to Marvin.

Smile Got it Fixed!

I had the same problem. After reading through all the posts on the subject and trying all the suggested fixes, I finally called TS. It did not cost me and they fixed it right away. I am currently about 1500 miles from home with my family in the car, with our entire vacation layed out in S&T! You can imagine how happy I am now!

I'm glad i shared my MS Tech experience with this forum and that it may have Helped some fix there TS-08 issues.
