Microsoft Streets and Trips: 'An unnamed file has a bad format'
I have been using Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004 for a long time. I uninstalled it, and then later reinstalled it. Now, I get "an unnamed file has a bad format" when I try to open an existing map. However, anything made since the reinstall will open. What is going on?

Hi chefron,
 to Laptop GPS World.
I think this 'An unnamed file has a bad format' may be an error a user gets when s/he attempts to open in an older version of the program a Streets & Trips file saved in a newer S&T version. Is this what you are trying to do?

Re: Microsoft Streets and Trips: 'An unnamed file has a bad format'
Actually, it is the same version of Streets and Trips that created the map originally. I just re-installed the same program I had been using. S&T just does not work on the previously made maps. Odd.

Have you changed the operating system in the mean time? Say, from XP to Vista?

If you want to attach an est file, I have 2004 on another computer and can try it. I'll probably get the same result as you if the file is damaged but who knows.

Re: Microsoft Streets and Trips: 'An unnamed file has a bad format'
I have both 2004 and 2007 on my laptop because I have some older maps. I'm running Vista, and only recently have been getting the same error when clicking on a map that I've made. The map will load, with the version that created it, if you right click on the map and choose 'open with'. The same error comes up if you 'open with' with a different version though. I think it's the system not Streets & Trips though.
