Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Hi Agr8skp,
What is the template like that you are currently using?
What I would suggest is making this file your template and start your trip planning using this. You can copy over most of the other data with the exception of the custom pushpin icons from your existing template.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Thanks Larry.
Not the answer I was hoping for but I will work on getting what I want. I have a couple of templates. One is for use when I am traveling in my car and one for when using the motorhome. I have a number of special icons in both so I guess I will just need to copy them one at a time into the new templates I create using this collection of icons you have provided.
Thanks again for the collection.
Dave

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Larry, it looks like the dataset corruption I was experiencing with S&T 2008 does NOT appear in 2010.

Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips - GPX import is NOT perfect
While the path imports, it does not import the time for each point, nor the data needed to know the speed of the travel at any given point, and does not really permit one to 'correct' data that takes one off the road and into a building as one travels around in a tall building downtown sort of environment, where the satellites are harder to stay in line of sight.

Thank you to Marvin. I'm hoping to get my boss to spring for this so I can use it at work. Your review details will help me make my case.

Actually the review describes only a tiny fraction of what Streets & Trips can do. The review only talks about the new features of the 2010 version versus the previous v.2009. There's much more under the hood.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
The new Streets & Trips (both with and w/out GPS) are finally in stock available for order online in Canada. I'm not sure why it took this long this year .

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
I've been a S&T user for years, and am impressed that Microsoft is still updating and improving this software in the age of 3G/HSPA always-on internet access. GPX import/export is especially useful.
I know this isn't the most insightful comment, but I'd love to win this for a friend of mine.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Has anyone tried exporting a GPX File in 2010 to be used on a stand alone device such as one of the garmin nuvi etc.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Does Microsoft use TeleAtlas, Navteq or their own maps? I have discovered response time (or lack of it) is critical. How does the response time compare to a standard GPS unit. Map updates can be $$$. Are any included in the package?
Many thanks.

Navteq data mostly.

I don't understand the question. "Response time" of what? "Critical" to what?
As a general comment on performance, I did some testing using my Garmin eTrex Legend HCx handheld GPS as the receiver for Streets&Trips. The screen display was virtually identical on both the laptop and the handheld. That is, with this particular hookup I was able to feed the GPS data from the handheld to Streets&Trips on the laptop and watch the display on both Streets&Trips on the laptop and on the handheld. The updating of the vehicle position indicator was the same on both.

Again, I don't understand the question. A complete set of North America maps are included (Canada, US, Mexico). But there are no additional "updates".

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Great review! I haven't used Street and Trips since early 2000's, but your review made me download/install it.
Thanks.
