Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
I currently use Streets & Trips 2007 with GPS. I just purchased a tablet PC with touch screen cababilities. I'm thinking of upgrading to S&T 2010 by buying the new software, should I not win a copy via this contest. I'm curiuos to see how it will work. That I can download a route plan to a Garmin GPS just cemented my choice for buying a Garmin unit. Thanks for the posts and reviews regarding S&T 2010.

Response time can be the time it takes the unit to recalibrate if GPS directions are not followed. Also I discovered the Navigon 2120Max had a slower time for upcoming turn warnings etc than the TomTom 730. That's what I meant.

I like Click and Drag because I can avoid left turn routing and high speed freeway routing. Both are high statistical accident zones.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Hi Everybody,
It looks like there a few products highly discussed here. Is there is a place where I can find side by side feature evaluation?
Like for example:
Voice command – yes | no
3D view - yes | no
Spoken streets - yes | no
Etc.
It would be really nice.
Hope to win one. :-)

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
The single most promising "new" feature to me is the restoration of something deleted from the 2009 version: Forward/Back. I can't imagine why the developers removed it. Perhaps in 2011, they'll even add back the toolbar buttons.
Note to ThinkPad users: In addition to the standard Alt+Arrow keys, the special ThinkPad Page Forward and Page Backward keys perform the same function.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Microsoft took an already-good product, Streets and Trips 2009, and made some enhancements that were partially in response to customer comments that really advanced the usability for Streets and Trips 2010. Judging from the broad variety of uses that people on this forum put S&T 2010 to, Microsoft has really created an excellent platform to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of uses from commercial truck drivers, through on-the-road sales people, RV tourists, other occasional vacationers, to bicycle rallyists.

Hey rcurry71, it's good to see you here! Welcome to Laptop GPS World.
MisterMoonlight has taken over S&T Keys development. Not sure if he's going to release S&T Keys 2010, but in his 2009 version he has added some cool new features.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
I have been using Streets & Trips since the first version. MS S&T 2010 is one of the best. I live and travel full time in a RV, towing a Jeep. With 2010, I have two different .sst files, one for the RV with slower speeds, different start/stop times, different fuel range, etc., and one for the Jeep with faster speeds, etc. I do all my trip planning on my laptop and use the laptop on the dash of the RV for travel. I have a Garmin Nuvi in the Jeep and export .gpx to it. When planning, I open S&T and select new which then asks me which .sst file I want to use for planning. Works great for me. I also use the giant .est file from the Discovery Owners group and am able to hide/unhide different groups of poi's as needed. Some things I wish were different are the volume of the instructions while navigating. I can barely hear it at the loudest volume. I wish they would restore the 2009 way of showing the direction in the GPS navigation pane. In 2009, the arrow rotated to show where North was. In 2010, the bezel rotates and I can't read it, while it is easy to see the arrow. I am also disappointed in the currency of the maps. An example: in Mesa, AZ on my Garmin, it shows the 202 freeway completed while in S&T the 202 ends just North of Main St. in the South and just East of Power Rd. between McDowell and Thomas Rd. in the North, a distance of almost 6 miles that was completed nearly a year ago. Another pet pieve is the inabilty to desensitize it. There are thousands of construction zones throughout North America at any one time and in many areas, the detour is routed to the opposing lanes of traffic. Under these situations, out in the middle of nowhere, with no roads nearby, you still get a constant barrage of recalculations because you are a couple hundred yards off route because you are headed down the wrong direction of the highway while the other lanes are being repaired.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
Contest is a great way to increase involvment in the forum!
S&T 2009 is still a great program, saw it on sale at Staples store at Ft Worth, TX for about $40 this past weekend with the gps! They even had the 2010 for I believe $35 w/o gps!
One of the things that I would like to see is a larger font size for the altitude numbers, kinda hard to read sometimes!
The new features of 2010 look promising! I've been using S&T 2009 almost everyday for the past 2 months, and love it!

It looks like that section is up to date, but I am not positive as I haven't been there in about 18 months. It showes it passing East of I-215 a ways and turning South to hook up with the I-10 which is a lot further than it went last time I was on it.

Re: Review: Microsoft Streets and Trips
The ability to hide pushpins and the advent of the mega file from the Discovery group has finally put S&T in a much more usable tool class. Many of us run both Delorme and S&T, currently trying both at same time on a netbook ( only one giving directions ). I haven't noticed any conflicts yet.
